HPL sheets in RAL9005 (jet black) cut to size

ETB approval ✓ UV and weather resistant ✓ Flame retardant ✓

Our HPL sheets in black are available cut to size in thickness 6mm up to a size of 1500mm x 1000mm. The black colour of the surface corresponds to the colour deep black (similar to RAL 9005). The layered construction of resin-impregnated kraft paper for the core and black decorative paper, pressed together under very high pressure, creates a robust, insensitive panel with an attractive appearance. Thanks to their high rigidity, the weatherproof HPL panels are ideal for use as facade cladding outdoors or as wall cladding indoors. Thanks to the ETB approval, the black high-pressure panels can be used without further ado for the commercial construction of balcony cladding.

Our black HPL panels are UV-resistant and insensitive to weather influences such as frost or acid rain. The hard surfaces are non-porous and can be easily cleaned without much effort. To protect the black decorative surfaces from scratches and damage during processing, our HPL sheets are equipped with an easily removable protective film.

Characteristics of our HPL panels in jet black

HPL panels are primarily characterised by their very good UV resistance and outstanding weather resistance. HPL can be used permanently outdoors even under the most adverse weather conditions and continuous UV radiation. Due to the very low mass increase of no more than 5%, HPL is not only considered to be waterproof, but also resistant to strong, rapid temperature changes. The temperature application range of the panels, which are mainly used as façade cladding on the exterior walls of buildings, extends from -30°C to +80°C. This makes the black HPL absolutely resistant to frost as well as to high outside temperatures.

Another very frequent area of application for the bending-resistant, stable HPL sheets is the construction of balcony surrounds as privacy screens. However, this is not permissible for all HPL sheets, as this requires approval in accordance with the strict requirements of the ETB guideline for fall protection. In order for our HPL sheets to be used as balcony cladding, they have the necessary ETB approval in the thicknesses 6mm and 8mm. This means that the cladding panels can be used in the commercial sector without any problems.

Our black HPL panels are flame-retardant according to DIN EN 13501-1 B-s2,d0, which is equivalent to the classification DIN 4102 B1. This is also a positive aspect, because flame retardancy does not apply across the board to HPL panels, which are usually classified as normally combustible.

Approvals and standards for HPL sheets in jet black (RAL 9005)

  • Highly flammable according to DIN EN 13501-1 B-s2, d0 (comparable with DIN 4102 B1)
  • Balcony approval in accordance with ETB directive "Components that protect against falling"
  • Our HPL panels are classified as A+ according to the standard on VOC emissions
  • FSC certified (ecologically sustainable and socially responsible forestry)

HPL is an environmentally friendly material that can be recycled very well, because it consists only of paper and resin. Moreover, HPL is free from hazardous substances such as heavy metals, organic halogens (fluorine, bromine, chlorine, etc.) or asbestos and is rated A+ according to the standard on VOC emissions. This means that our black HPL panels strictly comply with the strict tolerance values regarding chemical emissions. Indoor use, for example for the production of high-quality office furniture and interior fittings or as partition walls, is therefore possible without restrictions. In addition, our HPL sheets are considered physiologically harmless according to BfR.

WARNING:Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads or polishing agents to clean HPL façade panels, as this may scratch or damage the black surfaces under certain circumstances.

Cutting our black HPL sheets to size - precise, inexpensive, fast

Save time and money and buy your HPL blanks directly in the size you need.

For sawing HPL panels, you need a powerful saw with adjustable speed and a hardened saw blade. In addition, the saw blade projection should be adjustable to achieve a high saw blade projection. This prevents chipping of the decorative surface on the underside, but is difficult to avoid on the top side.

With our modern panel saws for horizontal cutting, a special programme is used for sawing the HPL panels, in which we saw in two passes. Two separate saw blades of different sizes and with special toothing are used for this. In the first pass, the surface is sawn on the underside to achieve a flawless cut edge from below. In the immediately following saw cut, the panel is sawn through with a second, larger saw blade and a high saw blade projection. This allows HPL cuts with a flawless cutting edge to be realised with a very low sawing tolerance of maximum +/-1mm.

In our online shop, you can order our black HPL decorative panels up to a size of 1500mm x 1000mm in millimetre-precise cuts at a reasonable price online. Due to the restrictions for standard shipping on pallets, larger formats are not possible via the online shop. If you need larger cuts of HPL sheets in black, this is possible on request up to a size of 3050mm x 1300mm. However, higher shipping costs and longer delivery times must be expected. Simply send us your enquiry by email, stating the desired dimensions, the thickness and the required quantities. We will process the request immediately and send you your personal offer including shipping costs as soon as possible.

Application examples for our black HPL sheets

  • Our HPL sheets in deep black are considered flame retardant and can therefore be used in public buildings
  • The black HPL sheets have balcony approval (ETB fall protection) and are suitable as balcony cladding
  • HPL is highly weather-resistant and can be used as cladding panels indoors and outdoors without hesitation
  • Thanks to strict compliance with emission values, black HPL is suitable for interior fittings
  • and many more

Processing of the HPL panels in black

HPL can be sawn, milled and drilled. However, specially hardened saw blades or milling heads should be used for this, because HPL panels are comparable to hardwood in terms of processing. Conventional wood saw blades and milling cutters are only suitable to a limited extent and wear out extremely quickly when cutting the cladding panels. Care should also be taken to keep the speed of hardened saw blades low, as the heat generated during sawing can quickly anneal the saw blades, making them blunt and unusable.

To install the HPL panels by screwing, holes must be drilled beforehand. HPL is a very hard material, so the speed should be kept quite low when drilling and ideally a solid carbide facade panel drill should be used. These usually have a centring point and, due to the special geometry of the drill, there is no risk of chipping or chipping of the black decorative surface when the drill is pushed through, even when drilling freehand. Drilling can also be done with a conventional HSS drill. For this purpose, however, the panel should lie flat on a firm base to reduce the risk of chipping when the drill comes out.

TIP:On request, we can undertake the drilling of fixing holes for you with our portal milling machines. With our milling service, any shapes or edge processing (e.g. chamfers) are also possible. Just give us a call. We will be happy to advise you comprehensively.

For mounting on a wooden substructure, we offer the colour-coordinated HPL screws in deep black made of stainless steel at particularly favourable graduated prices. The black lacquering of the screw head was exactly adjusted in colour and gloss level to our deep black HPL facade panels. The HPL screws are scratch-resistant and UV-resistant and therefore ideally suited for high-quality façade cladding made of our HPL panels.

In addition to screwing, gluing is another option for inconspicuous installation as wall cladding. However, the mounting adhesive should have a high level of adhesion right from the start because HPL is relatively heavy compared to other plastic panels. With our MS Polymer Parabond 600 in black, HPL panels can be bonded to almost all solid substrates found in the construction sector. However, until the mounting adhesive has cured, the panels should be adequately fixed to prevent them from slipping or falling.

NOTE:The black facade panels made of HPL with ETB approval in RAL 9005 are provided with a protective film on one side. This should be removed before installation or after completion of processing.
