Description

PP-S sheets in grey - flame retardant according to DIN4102 B1!

Our PP-S sheets made of grey polypropylene are available in thicknesses from 3mm to 20mm in a standard format with a length of 2000mm and a width of 1000mm. The flame retardant PP-S sheets consist of solid boards and do not contain a foamed core of polypropylene. The surfaces and cut edges, of the grey PP-S sheets have the same colour due to the complete colouring of the plastic sheets. The PP-S sheets are plastic sheets made in Germany from 100% virgin material. Our flame-retardant polypropylene sheets are delivered without protective film.

Note: Polypropylene is an engineering plastic, for this reason we advise against using our PP-S sheets for optical purposes.

Properties of flame retardant polypropylene

Polypropylene is generally considered to be normally flammable. Our PP-S sheets in grey, on the other hand, comply with the strict DIN 4102 B1 standard in thicknesses from 2mm to 20mm and can therefore also be used wherever strict fire protection regulations must be observed. The excellent resistance to chemicals is another aspect that should not be ignored with polypropylene and so polypropylene is resistant to many acids, alkalis and solvents and is therefore the ideal plastic in container construction for the chemical industry, especially in contact with flammable substances.

Polypropylene is a permanently heat-stable plastic with a continuous operating temperature of up to 100°C and can therefore also be used at high temperatures in the long term. In addition, PP-S has the high surface hardness typical of polypropylene with a Shore hardness of 72. As a result, the plastic sheets made of flame-retardant polypropylene have a high impact resistance, which has an effect on the long service life. These properties are exploited in particular in the construction industry, in the erection of fire protection equipment.

Standards for our PP-S sheets in grey

The polypropylene sheets in flame-retardant version are not approved for contact with food as they do not have the required approvals according to food conformity according to FDA or according to EU 10/2011.

  • REACH (EU Chemicals Regulation)
  • RoHS (Regulation on the Prohibition of Hazardous Substances in the Electrical Industry)
  • PAK (Directive on compliance with limit values for polyaromatic hydrocarbons)
  • DIN 4102 B1 (flame retardant) from 2mm to 20mm

We can supply other thicknesses or sizes of sheets made of flame-retardant PP-S on request.

In our online shop, we offer you our PP-S sheets in grey with a standard format of 2000mmx1000mm in the most common thicknesses. However, should you require larger sheet formats, we are quite capable of supplying you with the flame-retardant polypropylene sheets in the formats 3000mmx1500mm, or even in 4000mmx2000mm. Furthermore, there is also the possibility to offer you the PP-S sheets in white. Simply send us your enquiry by email with all the necessary details and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Application examples for our PP-S sheets in grey

  • Hardly flammable PP-S in grey is used in particular in air conditioning and ventilation technology
  • PP-S is used for housing covers and cladding of equipment in fire-hazardous areas
  • For containers of flammable chemicals, the flame-retardant PP-S is excellent
  • In the construction industry, PP-S is used for cladding and lining of fire protection systems
  • and many more

Processing of our PP-S sheets in grey

Polypropylene is very easy to process and can be machined by all metal-cutting methods without the need for special machines or tools. PP-S can be sawn, milled or punched to achieve blanks of the desired size. CO2 lasering or water jet cutting, is also excellent for cutting the flame retardant polypropylene to size. Polypropylene can also be drilled or turned without any problems. It is also possible to screw or rivet our grey PP-S sheets to create simple connections with other materials.

Polypropylene in a flame-retardant version has very good properties in terms of thermal formability. PP-S can therefore be very well cold-formed as well as hot-formed and deep-drawing is also a very common method, which is used in particular in the industrial production of non-flammable prefabricated plastic parts.

Polypropylene has a very good resistance to chemicals and solvents. For this reason, the grey PP-S sheets cannot be painted or printed. It is also not possible to apply a digital print or a film, as the self-adhesive films do not adhere to the surface. The situation is similar when bonding the flame-retardant polypropylene sheets, because this plastic cannot be bonded with conventional plastic adhesives due to its resistance to solvents. With our special PP adhesive PPprofi from our own brand S-Polybond, however, we offer you an adhesive in our online shop that has been specially developed for hard-to-bond plastics such as polypropylene. It should be noted, however, that this two-component adhesive does not meet DIN standard 4102 B1 and is therefore considered normally flammable.

The best joining method for durable and safe connections of PP-S with PP-S is welding with an appropriate welding rod. We can supply you with the appropriate PP-S welding rod, also in a flame-retardant version, in a thickness of 4mm as inexpensive yard goods on request.

NOTE: As an engineering plastic, our flame-retardant PP-S sheets are only suitable for optical purposes to a limited extent and are supplied without a protective film.
