Our PLA filament for 3D printing in the color orange convinces with a continuous and evenly high pigmentation. This makes it particularly suitable for 3D printing on all common printer models with special requirements for a rich, strong orange over the entire material depth. Our color orange is similar to the color "luminous orange" of the RAL color scale with the color number RAL2005. The plastic PLA, PLA being an abbreviation for polylactides, is environmentally friendly and 100% biodegradable. It is produced by the polymerization of the lactic acids contained in the raw materials corn starch, sugar cane and potato starch. With a tolerance of at most +/- 0,05mm, our PLA filaments in orange are particularly dimensionally stable and also convince with a particularly high roundness. They stand for optimum printing results for even the highest demands.
Our orange PLA filament, like all other PLA filaments, is very easy to process and can therefore be counted among the entry-level filaments.
Working without heated pressure bed (or heated bottom plate) is easily possible with our PLA filaments due to their low melting temperature. This low melting temperature is reflected negative in the temperature resistance. With a resistance of up to 60 °C, the robustness of our PLA filaments in orange is significantly lower than that of, for example, ABS filaments, which at least withstand temperatures of up to 85 °C. For objects that are used above 60 °C, we advise against the use of our PLA filament in orange, because the strength of the material decreases with increasing temperature and in extreme cases even the softening of the printed object is to be feared. In addition to the pure temperature resistance, the impact resistance of PLA plastic is below the strength of objects made from ABS filaments.
The strengths of our orange PLA filaments are their simple processing and high environmental compatibility. Furthermore, due to their flame retardant properties according to UL94HB, they also clearly contribute to the safety of the printing process and the subsequent use of the object thus created in the 3D printing process. Warping or shrinking of the printed object is not to be feared during cooling, so the so-called warp effect can be neglected. This dimensional stability makes PLA filament particularly suitable for 3D printing with the highest demands on scale and precision in reproducing complicated details.
Our PLA filament in orange can be used in almost all common 3D printers that produce their prints using the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) method. The required filament thickness results from the selected printer. Our PLA filament with a diameter of 1,75mm is suitable for most of the commercial printers. As well common is the filament thickness 2,85mm (or 3,00mm). Individual printer types are even able to process both diameters without the need for retrofitting the technical components. Due to the many models available from many manufacturers of 3D printers, we advise you to compare compatibility with the manual of your 3D printer before purchasing our orange PLA filament.
NOTE: Depending on the used 3D printer, the temperatures may vary, so when creating objects from our PLA filaments in orange, the settings of the respective printer should be taken into account. Background are temperature inaccuracies resulting from deviating measurements on the individual device. For the first test with our orange filament made of PLA, we therefore suggest a temperature of about 200°C, which must then be adjusted according to requirements and results. Other influencing factors on the ideal pressure temperature are the diameter of the heating nozzle used, as well as the selected printing speed and the desired printing resolution.
Post-processing prints made of PLA filament can be easily processed by all common methods, such as drilling, sawing, milling or grinding. The grooves and steps created by the layered structure in 3D printing can be easily removed with a very fine sandpaper. Alternatively, the surface of the printed object can be steamed with a PLA-compatible solvent so that it dissolves and smoothes. Our recommendation for this is the solvent tetrahydrofuran (Adequate ventilation and the other requirements of the safety data sheet are to be observed!). Other solvents, such as acetone, can react in an uncontrolled manner with the PLA and cause significant damage to the optic, or even damage.
The reworking of objects from our orange PLA filaments should be done carefully but with controlled effort. The significantly lower impact resistance of PLA compared to ABS plastic leads to an increased susceptibility to damage to filigree details or the surface in general, if this work is not carried out with the necessary care. The color post-processing by painting with suitable paints and coatings of objects is easily possible, in particular with a primer. It is also possible to glue parts made of PLA filament, so that just large objects above the performance of the specific 3D printer can simply be assembled from smaller individual parts. Alternatively, various post-processing steps can be completely avoided by using PLA filament in other colors, or by using other plastics for 3D printing.
NOTE: Our PLA filament in orange is resistant to ambient moisture. Nevertheless, it should be stored dry and should be protected from light.
