Our PLA filament for 3D printing in the color blue is consistently throughout the material thickness as well as intensely pigmented. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for consistently blue-colored 3D prints on all standard 3D printers. Our PLA filament in blue is based on the RAL color "signal blue" with the number RAL5005. PLA, also known in long form as polylactides, convinces by its high environmental friendliness because of its its complete biodegradability. On the basis of potato or corn starch, as well as sugar cane, the polymerization of the lactic acids contained in this regenerative starting material takes place. The blue PLA filaments convince by a high dimensional accuracy with deviations of at most +/- 0,05mmm. Our filaments guarantee in conjunction with their especially even rounding, optimum printing results and thus meet even the highest demands.
Our blue PLA filaments, as well as all our other PLA filaments, are ideal for beginners, because of their easy using.
A heatable pressure bed, or a heatable bottom plate, is not required when using our PLA filaments in blue. The low melting temperature allows easy processing without any additional effort. This property simultaneously results in low heat resistance of the PLA filaments. Created Objects can be thermally charged up to a maximum temperature of 60°C. In additon, filaments of other plastics, for example ABS filament with a heat resistance of up to 85°C, are more suitable. We therefore advise against the use of our PLA filaments in blue for objects that should be loaded above a temperature of 60°C. The material loses strenngth as the temperature increases and, in extreme cases, even loses its plastic stability. As the temperature increases, the material loses strength and, in extreme cases, even loses its plastic stability. In Addition to its resistance to temperature, the material PLA also has a comparatively low impact strength. So also here objects from ABS plastics achieve higher load values.
Filaments from PLA show their strength first in their high environmental compatibility, as well as the unproblematic processing. Furthermore, our The known warp-effekt and the shrinkage of the printed object in the course of cooling is not to be feared with the PLA filament in blue, just as little as the distortion of the workpiece. PLA filament is because of its properties the ideal material for all 3D prints in the range of maximum dimensional accuracy, as well as the precise formation of full-scale and particularly detailed objects.
Blue PLA filament can be used with all common 3D printer models using the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) process. The right filament thickness results from the specifications of the stand-alone 3D printer. Our 1.75mm thick PLA blue filaments are suitable for most common FDM printers. You also can use the thickness 2,85mm (bzw. 3,00mm). Various 3D printers are also able to use both filament thicknesses without technical conversion. Before using our filaments in blue for the first time, we recommend matching the suitability with the operating instructions of the printer in order to select the appropriate thickness. The variety of available models of the numerous manufacturers in the market do not allow universal, like reliable statements to the compatibility.
NOTE: Depending on the 3D printer used, there is some variance in the pressure temperature to be used. This results, among other things, from measurement inaccuracies of the individual printers on the heating nozzle, so that the settings of the printer should be taken into account when printing our PLA filament in blue. Our recommendation for the first printing with our PLA filament is therefore a temperature of about 200 ° C. Depending on the result achieved, subsequent adjustments of the temperature range may be necessary. Depending on the desired resolution of the pressure, as well as the diameter of the heating nozzle and the printing speed, further adjustments to the pressure temperature may be required.
Our PLA filament in blue can be easily reworked by drilling, sawing, milling or in another form. If you want to remove the layers and heels created by the layered 3D printing, you can do so by using a fine sandpaper. An alternative is the use of solvents suitable for polylactides. By steaming the surface of the workpiece, it can be smoothed. Our recommendation is the solvent tetrahydrofuran (Adequate ventilation must be ensured and the manufacturer's safety-related information must be obeyed!). Other solvents, such as acetone, in contrast to tetrahydrofuran, react uncontrollably with the surface of the workpiece and can thus cause considerable damage
For the post-processing of workpieces made with our PLA filament in blue, we recommend a cautious approach under controlled use of force. The significantly lower impact resistance of PLA compared to ABS plastics leads to susceptibility to damage and visual impairment. Precisely filigree details break off quickly when neglected. When using suitable inks, PLA can be painted very well, with the application of a primer improving paint adhesion. The bonding of several objects made of PLA is also possible without problems with a suitable adhesive. Large workpieces exceeding the capacity of the 3D printer can therefore easily be created by creating individual prints and then joining them together. Even if a subsequent color design, and other post-processing steps, are well implemented, the choice of different filament colors or another filament material can be an alternative that make the subsequent work obsolete.
NOTE: Our PLA filament in blue is resistant to damp. Nevertheless it should always be stored in a dry place and under the exclusion of daylight
