Our PLA filament for 3D printing in the color yellow appears due to its consistently smooth as well as intense pigmentation ideally suited for 3D prints in bright and vibrant yellow on all major 3D printers. Our PLA filament is similar to RAL1023 (Traffic yellow) Polylactide, PLA for short, is a very environmentally friendly, completely biodegradable plastic. It is produced during the polymerization of lactic acids, which are extracted from the raw materials corn starch, sugar cane or potato starch. With a maximum tolerance of +/- 0,05mm, our yellow PLA filaments made on it are very dimensionally stable and also have a very high roundness. This makes them particularly suitable for prints with the highest demands and guarantees the best printing results.
Our yellow PLA filament is as easy and easy to process as our other PLA filaments. The offer of our filaments made of PLA plastic certainly conscience as entry-level products.
Due to their low melting temperature, our PLA filaments in yellow are very well suited for processing without a heated pressure bed or a heated base plate. On the other hand, this property is disadvantageous with regard to the temperature resistance of the filaments made of PLA. The heat resistance up to a maximum of 60°C is well below the upper temperature limit of, for example, ABS filaments with 85°C. We therefore advise against the use of our PLA filament for all printing objects that are exposed to temperatures above 60°C in later use. With increasing temperature, a decrease in strength up to softening is to be feared. Furthermore, the impact resistance of objects made of PLA filament is below that of comparable objects made of ABS plastic.
Our PLA filament in yellow scores with its strengths in environmental compatibility and its particularly easy processability. Furthermore, it fulfills the classification in the fire protection class UL94 HB and therefore increases the safety both in the printing process, as well as in the subsequent use of the finished printed object. A delay in the cooling process is not to be feared as a shrinkage. The so-called warp effect can therefore be neglected. Thus, PLA filament is ideally suited for 3D prints with the highest standards of true-to-scale reproduction as well as the detailed shaping of filigree details.
Yellow PLA filament can be processed in all standard models on 3D printers. The only prerequisite is the printing by means of the fused deposition modeling method, FDM for short. The necessary filament thickness for printing results from the used 3D printer, whereas our yellow 1,75mm filaments are compatible with most common FDM printers. Another common strength is filaments of diameter 2,85mm (or 3,00mm). Many 3D printers today can handle both filament thicknesses without interfering with the equipment. Because of the numerous printer manufacturers and models, we advise against the purchase of our PLA filaments in yellow, to compare the usability of a certain strength with the actual printer based on the manufacturer's information.
NOTE: The actual temperatures during printing may vary from printer to printer. Reason is the inaccuracy of individual devices in the temperature measurement at the heating nozzle. Therefore, when using our PLA filament in yellow, it is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for your specific printer. We recommend the first printing with our filaments at a temperature of 200°C. Depending on the result, subsequent adjustments may be necessary. Furthermore, the optimum pressure temperature is also influenced by the set printing speed, the pressure resolution used and the diameter of the used heating nozzle.
Post-processing of PLA filament objects is easily possible after printing is complete. Objects made of PLA can be drilled, milled, sawed or subjected to other mechanical processing steps very well. The grooves and gradations typical of 3D printing because of its layered construction can be easily and effectively removed with a fine sandpaper. Furthermore, the evaporation of the surface with a PLA-compatible solvent is possible, so that the surface is smoothed by the dissolution of the uppermost layer of material. Our recommendation is the solvent tetrahydrofuran. When using, make sure you have sufficient ventilation, as well as the other instructions of the safety data sheet! Other solvents, such as acetone, prove to be inappropriate because they react uncontrollably with the PLA plastic used and thus sometimes cause significant damage to the workpiece.
We recommend a careful and not too intensive reworking of objects from our PLA filament in yellow. Due to the significantly lower impact resistance of the PLA material compared to ABS objects, otherwise particularly filigree details can be broken and the general appearance of the material surface can suffer. The subsequent painting of objects from our PLA filament is also possible, for example, with acrylic paints without any problems. We advise to use a primer to ensure lasting adhesion of the colors. It is also possible to glue several PLA components together with a suitable adhesive. This results in the possibility to combine even larger objects with small 3D printers by creating several individual parts. As an alternative to painting, it may make sense to print individual elements in different colors, or even to select filaments from other materials. In this way, various post-processing steps can even be completely avoided.
NOTE: Although our PLA filament in yellow is moisture insensitive, we recommend a light-protected and at the same time dry storage.
