Acrylic sheets in custom cut

Acrylic sheets

Our crystal clear and weather resistant acrylic sheets (also known as PMMA) are no multi-wall panels, but solid smooth sheets covered both sides with a protective film. We can supply you with custom cut sheets at affordable prices.

Your advantages with our acrylic sheets:

  1. acrylic sheets are UV, weather and ageing resistant, and at the same time relatively scratch proof
  2. acrylic is a transparent plastic which transmits light better than glass
  3. acrylic sheets can be used for glazing as well as the construction of point of sale displays and furniture

What is acrylic glass?

Acrylic glass is another name for PolyMethylMethAcrylate (PMMA for short) and is known to most consumers under the brand name Plexiglas® (registered trademark of Evonik Performance Materials GmbH) as a manufacturer of acrylic glass. Acrylic glass is an amorphous thermoplastic. Acrylic glass is synthesized from methylmethacrylate in a radical polymerization..

In its natural form, acrylic glass is colorless, transparent and relatively hard and brittle. The surface of acrylic glass has the highest surface gloss and is particularly resistant to scratches.

Acrylic glass is UV-stabilized and weather-resistant and can therefore be easily used wherever transparent, weather-resistant plastic sheets are needed.

Physical properties of acrylic glass

The most important properties of acrylic glass are very high transparency, its high resistance to weathering and direct UV-radiation. In addition, plastic sheets made of acrylic glass have a high surface hardness.

The physical density of acrylic glass is 1,19g/cm3, which is about 20% heavier than water. Thanks to possible operating temperatures between -40 and 90°C, acrylic glass can also be used without problems in particularly cold or warm regions, for outdoor use.

The resistance to organic solvents such as benzene, acetone or alcohols is classified as bad. Acrylic glass should therefore not be cleaned with alcohol. In addition, acrylic glass can be subjected to stress cracking on the surface due to the effect of alcohol.

How is acrylic glass processed?

Acrylic glass can be processed by all common processing methods such as injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, welding, sawing and drilling and is also very easy to polish. The most common processing is cutting or engraving with CO2 laser machines.

Furthermore, acrylic glass can be glued with suitable adhesives such as our S-Polybond PMMAprofi by cold welding.

The sheets of acrylic glass have a high brittleness and can be damaged by carelessness, so the material thickness should not be too low! If you need a high level of impact resistance, we ask you to go to the weatherproof polycarbonate plates .

How is acrylic recycled?

If the remains are collected sorted, it can be easily ground and processed into new products or semi-finished products. These have a lower quality and must be reported as regenerated. In most cases, the recycled acrylic glass is blackened due to impurities.

Our delivery program for acrylic glass plates

  1. Acrylic glass standard plates in colorless, transparent in 2,0 x 1,0 meter in thicknesses from 2mm to 10mm
  2. Acrylic sheets in colorless, transparent cut to a size of 2,0 x 1,0 meters in thicknesses from 2mm to 10mm
  3. Acrylic glass standard sheets in opal (milky cloudy) in 2,0 x 1,0 meter in 5mm thickness
  4. Acrylic glass plates in opal (milky cloudy) in the cut up to a size of 2,0 x 1,0 meters in 5mm thickness

On request we also deliver

  1. Extruded acrylic sheets in the format 3,0 x 2,0 meters in thicknesses of 2mm - 10mm thickness

Our acrylic sheets are always supplied with a double-sided protective film to ensure the best possible protection of the glossy surface during transport or processing. Our acrylic sheets are always solid sheets and not hollow sheets or (double) sheets.

Fields of application of acrylic glass plates

The range of use of acrylic glass panels is particularly broad due to the high weather resistance of this plastic. Starting with advertising displays, advertising signs, visually appealing glazing, up to transparent pool walls of aqua parks, hardly a wish remains open.

Also terrace coverings, conservatories (but here we recommend the shatter-proof polycarbonate in the UV-stabilized version), or greenhouses can be excellently made of acrylic glass, as this material can also be exposed to direct sunlight thanks to its UV-resistance.

Typical examples of the use of acrylic glass:

  1. Advertising signs, chancery signs or trade fair displays
  2. Glazing, balcony cladding, industrial door glazing
  3. Lenses for cameras, optical measuring instruments and spectacle lenses
  4. Walls for aquariums and terrariums
  5. and many more

Individual milled parts and laser parts made of acrylic glass

On our modern CNC-milling-centers, we can also mill acrylic sheets exactly to your requirements in almost every conceivable shape. For making milled acrylic glass parts we only need a design drawing as a DXF- or DWG-file from you. Also the file formats STEP or IGES, AI (Adobe Illustrator) and EPS files, can be processed or converted by us. For creating laser parts with polished edges, we are at your disposal with our large CO2 laser systems with a maximum format of 1600 x 1000mm. For that we also need the laser data in a machine-readable format as a vector file (EPS, DXF, AI).

In order to prepare you in advance for a tailor-made offer including shipping costs, exactly according to your specifications and needs, we need a sketch and also the desired number of pieces per delivery.
