Description

Flat chisel with hand guard – Robust. Precise. Safe.

Rubberised handle ✓ 19mm wide cutting edge ✓ Chrome vanadium steel ✓

The Högert flat chisel with hand guard is ideal for precise and powerful chiselling and prying work in clinker, sand-lime brick or concrete. Whether on the construction site, in the workshop or for demanding renovation work, the flat chisel made of high-quality chrome-vanadium steel with a 16mm thick and 225mm long hexagonal shank impresses with its extreme hardness, long service life and high impact resistance. With a blade width of 19mm, even larger chiselling jobs can be completed quickly. Perfectly suited for professional craftsmen and ambitious DIY enthusiasts.

The ergonomically shaped hand guard made of thermoplastic natural rubber with a rubberised grip surface reliably protects your hands from slipping and mistakes – for maximum safety in every application. Soft grooves in the grip surfaces cushion impacts and improve the comfortable grip.

Properties of the cold chisel with 19mm cutting edge

As befits a tool for professional use in the trade, only the best materials are used in the manufacture of Högert flat chisels. They are made of a chrome-vanadium steel alloy (CrV steel), which is characterised by outstanding hardness and wear resistance. The precise manufacturing and wedge-shaped blade grind impress with their top-notch quality and very long service life – even when used intensively or on very hard materials such as reinforced concrete. The excellent price-performance ratio is not only lucrative for commercial users in industry and trade, but also appeals to ambitious DIY enthusiasts with high quality standards.

Cold chisels such as the flat chisel from Högert are used to work materials such as stone or metal in a cold state – without heating the material beforehand. The solid hexagonal shank transfers even the hardest blows safely to the cutting edge. With a thickness of 16mm, deformation, breakage or splintering is completely impossible. The total length of 225mm is ideal for easily chiselling out deeper holes for light switches and sockets.

The special feature of the chisel is the handle with generous hand protection made of thermoplastic natural rubber. The handle is not only ergonomically shaped, but also has a pleasantly soft rubber coating with fine grooves in the grip area, which soften the impact of the hammer and thus make chiselling more comfortable. The grip surfaces are symmetrically arranged so that the chisel can be used with either hand. This is useful if you need to change hands due to muscle fatigue caused by prolonged chiselling with a heavy hammer or mallet. The hand guard with an outer diameter of around 90mm safely absorbs mis-hits and effectively protects the hand from injury.

Advantages of the chisel with 19mm blade

  • Robust chrome-vanadium steel for lasting sharpness
  • Ground 19mm wedge blade for high precision
  • Non-slip handle with integrated hand guard
  • Shock-absorbing grooves on the grip surfaces
  • Ergonomic shape for fatigue-free working
  • Relatively light at 540g despite the handle

Application and handling of flat chisels

There is not much to explain about how to use a chisel – after all, everyone knows that you place the front cutting edge against the masonry and strike it on the other side with a heavy hammer to transfer the impact force to the cutting edge via the solid hexagonal shaft. A mallet offers the best handling here, as it combines a heavy head with a short handle, ensuring precise blows to the striking head. By varying the angle of the cutting edge, chiselling work can be carried out very precisely and easily.

The handle is equally suitable for left- and right-handed users. During prolonged chiselling work, the striking hand can be changed from time to time to prevent muscle fatigue.

Missed the mark? No problem!

A moment's distraction – and it has happened. The hammer does not hit the anvil. That can be really painful. It is a good thing that hand protection is there, because it effectively protects the hand from bruises, contusions and bruises.

Go for quality, safety and precision – with the 19mm flat chisel with hand guard from Högert, you're ready for any challenge.
