Spacers in various sizes and editions

Wall mounts for the installation of billboards, images or door signs are available in endless sizes and editions. We consciously decided for a range that can offer the appropriate spacer for every purpose imaginable. In our shop you can find spacers with various diameters, which first and foremost appeal to the eye design-wise. For smaller signs, such as door signs or doorbell signs, surely you prefer spacers with smaller screw head sizes. With large advertising panels, however, our solid spacers with a 25mm diameter will probably cause a better optical effect. Moreover, we also offer spacers of which the head thickness is smaller, namely a thickness of 1,7mm. Also, this looks more appealing in combination with smaller signs. Furthermore, the spacers with the flat head also have a securing screw, the grub screw, so that unwanted theft is increased in proving to be difficult.

Also the edge distance and the clamping area can be a relevant factor of consideration for you. Perhaps the wall at disposal is not even enough, which can cause the need for a slightly larger wall distance between the sign that is wished to be installed and the wall. For this we have several products at your disposal, too. Even for the installation without any distance to the walls we offer high-quality cover caps made of stainless steel, so that the optical look still remains pleasant. With the cover caps the clamping area can be left out of consideration, as the installation of the plates proceeds immediately onto the surface. On the contrary, with our spacers it should always be kept in mind that the clamping area covers the desired plate thickness. The clamping area defines how thick a plate has to be minimally, in order for it to be able to be held, and how heavy the plate is maximally allowed to be so that the cover cap still can be screwed on or applied. If you aim to install several plates on top of one another or install them with spacer sleeves, all single thicknesses are to be added in order to define the total strength. This number is not allowed to exceed the clamping range.

Our spacers are all made of stainless steel. You do not deal with thin-walled stainless steel sleeves with a pressed thread made of iron, brass or aluminium, which does not only have the effect of the product being more weather-resistant but also of the immensely high load capacity our spacers have.

Details to the wall distance, the diameter, the clamping area or the load capacity can be detained from the technical data available on each product page. In this area, we also summarised many other important indicators into an overview.

On request we are also capable to deliver other sizes. The same goes for other materials, such as brass or aluminium, either satined or polished. You can contact us by writing an email with your explicit wishes and needs concluding the desired quantities and we will reply to your request as quick as possible.

Application Examples for Spacers

First and foremost, our spacers are supposed to be used for the installation of plates onto walls, regardless of dealing with either signs or wall claddings. Even so, the material of the plates does not matter. With our spacers, both glass plates and transparent acrylic plates can equally be applied to the wall with a distance. Also, all other varieties of plastic material we offer in our online shop can be used without any hesitation. Even the signs made of metal (such as stainless steel, aluminium or brass) or wood can be installed with our spacers in a secure and optically pleasing manner.

Even if our spacers are primarily used for their main purpose, there are no limits to using the solid spacers in more creative ways. To exemplify it is an option to combine small table pieces of wood with spacer sleeves for creating a monitor platform which can shape the layout of the office more ergonomically. Also, below the table plate little shelves could be installed to help keep a clean work space. Or what about a chalk board in between the bed posts, so children can develop their creative potential. The list of examples that show how our spacers can be used beside their original purpose is endless.

  • Application of door signs and doorbell signs indoors and outdoors
  • Installation of warning signs and signposts for public buildings or businesses
  • Installation of wall images, panels or whiteboards at home or in the office
  • Creation of claddings with rear ventilation, e.g. with facade panels
  • Application of advertising signs and company signs onto walls or posts
  • Secure installation of glass plates as table plate on a table frame
  • Installation of wall mirrors – also in damp rooms such as bathrooms or toilet rooms
  • Application of a kitchen back wall made of glass above the cooking area
  • And much more

How are spacers installed?

The installation of spacers is very easy and does not require any special skill or special tools. Depending on the edition, surface and used screws, you will only need a drilling machine with appropriate driller, a screwdriver and an Allen key (for spacers with grub screw). The installation of the spacer sleeves, which define the wall distance, can only be done in one way. Only fixing the stainless steel cap has to be installed differently. With screwable spacers the caps are fixed by screwing the caps into the sleeves. With spacers that have a grub screw the grub screw first has to be detached so that the cap can be put onto the sleeve. The last step is to tighten the grub screw with a suitable key.

  • Position your sign or object you aim to install with the spacer correctly.
  • Transfer the positions of the drilling holes by pencil marks onto the wall or onto the sub-surface.
  • If required, drill holes with a drilling hole puncher to install the dowels and mind the size of the screws.
  • Detach the head of the sleeve of the wall mount and put the screw through the sleeve to the front.
  • secure the spacer sleeve with the screw so that it is secured and there is no space for movement.
Mind that with the spacer sleeves with grub screws the grub screws should be able to be reached after the installation.
  • Position your sign or object with the drilling holes exactly over the spacer.
  • Screw or stick the heads of the spacers into the sleeves, so that the plate will have sufficient stability.
  • Note:Amongst spacers with grub locks the grub screws have to be tightened.
  • Check the stability of the plate by lightly pulling or moving and add a finishing tightening touch if necessary.
  • For removing the sign, reverse the installation instructions.

Please be aware that neither screws nor dowels are included into the scope of delivery. We do this considerately because depending on the surface different screws or dowels are needed. Screws and dowels, however, are available in most households, so that we can spare unnecessary rubbish. For the same reason we do not offer the Allen key with the spacers with the grub screws, because also this tool can be found in most toolboxes.

How many spacers are needed?

The number of spacers needed depends on various indicators, which makes it difficult to answer the question concretely. Which indicators are to be taken into account can be found in the following paragraphs.

Look after the installation

First and foremost the aesthetic look of a well-executed application counts. Generally speaking the signs or wall images barely reach the maximum load capacity of merely one spacer, and still the installation mostly takes place using 4 spacers – one applied in every corner. With small warning signs – which are for example made of engraved acrylic glass for highlighting single office spaces or parking spaces – more not than often only 2 spacers are used.

Pre-defined drilling holes of the signs

Do you have a sign that already has drilling holes for spacers, then the needed number of spacers will be derived from the number of holes.

Size of the wall sign

Another aspect for defining the number is the size of the sign. With expanding size of a sign not only the weight rises. Also the self-solidity decreases, so that with wall clads and large signs more spacers per side will be needed.

Strength of the plate material

The strength of the sign also gives information about how many wall spacers are needed for installation. With increasing strength the stability of the plate increases. With our 3mm strong aluminium composite panels as disguise or larger advertising signs you will need more spacers as when you use a acrylic glass sign of the same measurements with a strength of 10mm. The stability of a plate is always dependent on the used material. Solid aluminium or steel is clearly more stable in smaller proportions as stronger plastic materials which are often preferably used as linings or for signs.

Load capacity of the surface

Even when the weight fundamentally plays less of a role it can occur that the load capacity of the spacer can be increased by using more of them. Especially during the installation on less solid surfaces, such as plasterboard, soft wood aerated concrete the load can be too high on specific points, so that the weight requires division onto several spacers

NOTE: Opt for distances between the spacers in such a way that they do not pass 50cm. This is, in most cases, enough when taking into account the named indicators.

Cleanse and Care of the spacers

Our spacers are made of stainless steel and generally need little care to make sure that the idle aesthetic remains. Depending on where they are installed, a regular cleanse of the spacers is recommended. When doing so, a soft cloth should be used so that the finely polished surface will not scratch. When possible, take off the cover caps and take the sign off the wall. This way it is prevented that the sign gets dirty from behind and the spacer sleeves can be cleansed more thoroughly. When cleaning use a special cleansing spray for stainless steel surfaces. Alternatively, some water with regular detergent can be used, too. Following onto that you can choose to treat the surfaces with an oil to prevent further pollution and environmental influences of kinds.

How are spacers removed?

Our spacers are made of stainless steel that can be recycled excellently if a longer use is not required anymore. That is why disposal is recommended to take place at a recycling centre to prevent wasting valuable raw materials. However, almost every metal processing business acquires over collecting tanks for scrap metal that can is sold to a recycler and generally are very eager to dispose the spacers for you.
