Facade screws – not only ideal for HPL plates

Our facade screws are either available with or without scratch-proof head varnish. Even though the varnish on our HPL plates matches the colour and gloss level of the RAL-colouring, the facade screws are still appropriate for almost all facade plates that have to be installed onto a similar sub-construction. Even just the white facade screws in the RAL-shade 9010 (silver white) can be used carefree for our white aluminium composite panels. Also for our white ABS-plates or PVC plates in white the screws can be utilised. Depending on the plastic panel it has to be kept in mind, though, that the screws made of stainless steel can be used outdoors without any issues but cannot be used on every synthetic material.

Also the screws in anthracite can be used for several synthetic plates. Thus, these can be used for our aluminium composite panels all facade linings with undetectable installation, too. The same applies to the black screws in combination with black aluminium composite panels or our black ABS, ASA/ABS plates or polyethylene. Moreover, we also offer a variety of complimentary synthetic panels to the different grey tones of our varnished screws.

TIP: In the additional data of our synthetic panels you can always find detailed descriptions with regard to the RAL-colour tones.

In our online shop we offer you an extended choice of facade screws at very attractive prizes and renounce from unnecessary packaging units or minimum order quantities. This way you can order any quantity you like, anytime you like and accordingly to your personal needs. Even if you look for single orders only. Additionally, you always profit from our very attractive graduated pricing method.

Application examples for our facade screws

Our facade screws have long been suitable not only for the installation of facade panels as wall cladding, but can also be used wherever an appropriate substructure allows their use. You are not limited to substructures made of wood, but can also screw the screws directly into the masonry with the help of dowels.

The facade screws are all made of stainless steel and can therefore be used outdoors without any problems. Also the lacquering of our coloured screws is UV-resistant and weatherproof. The stainless steel screws are also ideal for the construction of partition walls in wet rooms, such as public WC facilities or sanitary facilities on sports fields and camping grounds. The scratch-resistant coating of the head lacquer also allows the construction of high-quality furniture for home or office for a visually unobtrusive and safe assembly of the individual elements.

  • Our painted facade screws are suitable for inconspicuous installation of HPL panels
  • The facade screws can be used to fix almost all facade panels
  • The screws are ideal for fence elements made of HPL, aluminium composite or even painted wood
  • The screws can be used to erect visual protection elements on balconies
  • The screws can be used for the production of indoor and outdoor furniture
  • Installation of interior fittings and partition walls in damp rooms e.g. public sanitary facilities
  • And much more

NOTE: These screws are not suitable for mounting on a metal construction, for example as a balcony screen on a metal railing. For this purpose we offer you the suitable screws with metric thread and self-locking cap nut at favourable graduated prices.

How are facade screws installed?

Before installing plastic panels for wall cladding, you should ensure that the substructure has sufficient stability and load-bearing capacity.

For the assembly of facade panels with our stainless steel facade screws, a corresponding substructure made of wood is required. In addition, the facade panels should be provided with drill holes to allow the screwing on the substructure. Depending on the panel used, the specifications vary with regard to the size of the drill holes, or also with regard to a constraint-free installation, as is required for HPL panels. The required number of fixing points also depends on various factors. These can be the size and weight of the panel used, for example.

A screwdriver or bit attachment with Torx drive in size T20 is required to screw the facade screws. However, this is not included in the scope of delivery and is actually included in every standard bit set.

When installing HPL panels, always choose one fixed point and the other fixing points as sliding points to prevent the laminate panel from buckling due to thermal expansion.

  • Drill holes in the panels with a suitable drill for fixing the facade panel
  • If necessary, transfer the drill holes of the panel to the substructure and pre-drill the holes.
  • Screw the panel to the substructure and observe the installation instructions for the panel used.

Even though our facade screws are primarily intended for use with wooden substructures, they can also be used for mounting in walls, on plasterboard or similar. It is important, however, that the dowel that matches the substrate is always used to ensure that the board is held securely in place. For screws with a thread size of 5.5x35mm we recommend plugs with a diameter of 8mm.

How many screws are necessary?

How a facade panel is to be installed and how many screws are required for fixing depends on the substructure and the material used itself. For many applications, especially in the commercial sector, strict rules and standards also apply.

Assembly instructions of the plate are important

Most facade panels are subject to strict standards with regard to professional installation, which must always be observed. The installation instructions for the respective panels must therefore always be observed. It is important that not only the number of fasteners is observed, which can vary depending on the material and size of the panel, but also that the screws are approved for the intended use. Since our facade screws, especially for the use of HPL panels, can also withstand high loads in relation to weight and can be used outdoors without hesitation, the last aspect can normally be neglected to a large extent.

Note the stability of the plates

Depending on the type and construction of the substructure, you will need different numbers of screws. The thickness of the cladding panel to be fastened is also decisive in determining whether more or fewer fastening points are selected, as the thickness affects the inherent stability of the panel, among other things. Furthermore, not every material is equally stable. While HPL panels or aluminium composite panels already have quite good stability due to their physical properties, panels made of other materials can be much more flexible and less rigid for the same thickness. Although smaller thicknesses have a lower weight for the same dimensions, it may be necessary to reduce the distances to maintain the bending stiffness, which means a higher number of screws.

Size matters

If you are planning a wall covering with quite large panels, you will usually need fewer screws than if the same area is to be covered with panels in smaller formats.

Suppose you plan a wall covering with two meters in height and four meters in width (in this example we will simply dispense with the necessary spacing between the individual panels). If facade panels in the format 1000mm x 1000mm are used, you need eight panels cut to size. Each of these panels should be fastened with eight screws to ensure sufficient stability. In total, this results in 64 screws. However, if you choose panels with the dimensions 500mmx500mm, you will need four times the number of panel cuts. These 32 panels each require a fixing point in each corner, giving a total of 128 facade screws, double the number in the first example.

TIP: If you are not sure, a rough rule of thumb is to use one screw per half meter edge length.

Clean and maintain facade screws

Our facade screws are weatherproof and do not rust. It does not matter whether they are screws with painted heads or bare screw heads. Depending on the intended purpose and the place of use, regular cleaning may be necessary to remove dust and dirt from the mounted panels and screws. There is not much to consider. Simply use a soft cloth and some common household cleaner to clean the screw heads. However, please also pay attention to special care instructions for the cladding material used, as not every cleaner is equally suitable for every facade panel.

NOTE: In order not to damage the paintwork in the long term, strong rubbing or the use of microfibre cloths or scouring agents should be avoided.

How are facade screws disposed of?

Our facade screws are made of high quality stainless steel. If further use of the screws is no longer desired, the raw material can be excellently recycled by melting the screws down to form new stainless steel products. Before you dispose of the screws with the household waste, you should perhaps think about disposal at the recycling centre. Even almost every metal processing company has containers for scrap metal to sell it to a recycler later. You won't get any money for individual screws, but at least the raw material stainless steel will be preserved for recycling.
