High-strength 2-component MMA adhesive for plastics, metals and composite materials

When different materials need to be permanently bonded together, conventional adhesives quickly reach their limits. This is exactly where S-Polybond 2K MMAprofi comes into play. The high-performance 2-component methacrylate adhesive from our own brand was developed for high-strength structural bonding and reliably bonds numerous plastics, metals and composite materials. This makes the adhesive ideal for demanding constructions, repairs and assembly work where a durable adhesive bond is required and screws, rivets or other mechanical fasteners are to be avoided or supplemented.

2K MMAprofi is particularly useful wherever different materials meet. Plastic to metal, composite material to aluminium or different materials within one construction can be bonded using just one adhesive. On numerous surfaces, neither an additional primer nor prior sanding is required. This saves working steps and makes application considerably easier. Adhesive and activator are contained in a 50g dual cartridge and are automatically mixed at a ratio of 1:1 during dispensing – apply, join the components and create a permanently high-strength bond.

Thanks to its high mechanical strength, S-Polybond 2K MMAprofi is particularly suitable for applications where the adhesive bond is permanently exposed to impact, peel, compression or alternating loads. The adhesive combines high lap shear strength with excellent resistance to environmental influences. The rapid development of its mechanical properties also allows the bonded components to be processed further after a short period of time.

Properties of the 2-component adhesive 2K MMAprofi

S-Polybond 2K MMAprofi is a high-performance methacrylate adhesive for structural adhesive bonds. Once fully reacted, it forms a resistant bond with high impact, peel, compression and fatigue resistance. On numerous materials, an additional primer or prior sanding of the surface can be omitted. However, the surfaces to be bonded must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dust and other contaminants.

Application of the 2-component adhesive 2K MMAprofi

To apply S-Polybond 2K MMAprofi, a suitable dispensing gun for 50g dual cartridges with a mixing ratio of 1:1 is required. During dispensing, adhesive and activator are automatically mixed at a ratio of 1:1 by means of a suitable static mixing nozzle and can then be applied evenly to the bonding surface.

Before bonding, the surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease, oil and other adhesion-reducing contaminants. Our S-Polybond PLASTICclean, for example, is suitable for this purpose. On numerous suitable materials, no additional treatment with primer or sanding is required. For unknown materials or special surfaces, however, we generally recommend carrying out a test bond beforehand.

After application, the parts to be joined are brought together within the working time and fixed until sufficient initial strength has been achieved. Excess adhesive should be removed before complete curing, as cured MMA adhesive can only be removed mechanically.

Safety instructions for using the 2-component adhesive 2K MMAprofi

Before using the 2-component adhesive 2K MMAprofi, the safety data sheets for both components, adhesive and activator, as well as the technical data sheet must be observed. Also observe the requirements regarding personal protective equipment. Use the adhesive only outdoors or in well-ventilated areas and avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep the adhesive away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. Do not smoke. Store the cartridge in a cool, well-ventilated place, keep it locked up and out of reach of children.
