Our aluminium H-profiles with a clamping range of 3mm are suitable as connecting profiles for two panels with a thickness of 3mm. This makes the profiles ideal for our aluminium composite panels or also for our cast acrylic glass panels, which we offer cut to size in a wide range of colours and designs. The fine profiles with an excellent surface quality are easy to process and can be shortened without any problems if necessary. To ensure that the profiles are not affected by weathering, we only use anodised aluminium for the inexpensive aluminium profiles, which is characterised by very good corrosion resistance.
The connecting profiles, whose cross-section is reminiscent of the capital letter H, are often also referred to as double-T profiles and are available in our online shop in 2000mm lengths. The profile width on the front side is 17mm. The rear side with the widened mounting surfaces, on the other hand, has a width of 26mm. Due to the smooth, silver surface of the profiles, the rear side can also be used as a visible profile side without hesitation. The maximum clamping range of the profiles is 3.5mm. This ensures that panels with higher manufacturing tolerances in relation to the panel thickness can still be inserted into the profile without any problems.
NOTE: The 3mm connecting profiles are simply inserted between two aluminium composite panels. The additional gluing is not absolutely necessary, but can prevent the profiles from shifting on smooth surfaces.
TIP: The H-profiles have a length of 2000mm, depending on the selection. If these are to be shortened or mitred, a standard hand saw with a metal saw blade is sufficient. However, cutting the thin aluminium profiles is much easier and cleaner with a mitre saw.
The aluminium H-profiles are anodised. This means that the surfaces are treated by anodic oxidation in the so-called anodising process. In this process, an oxidic protective layer is applied to the surfaces, which results in the best possible protection against corrosion, so that the aluminium profiles are protected against environmental influences when used outdoors, even in the most adverse weather conditions. Especially when used as connecting profiles for cladding with aluminium composite panels outdoors, the special corrosion protection is an essential factor that not only affects the appearance, but also contributes to a significant reduction in maintenance costs for the preservation of the building fabric.
With a profile thickness of only one millimetre, our H-profiles are extremely thin and therefore very light. However, this has no significant effect on the stability and stiffness of the profiles, which is particularly noticeable in the case of plastic panels with lower bending stiffness, because not all panel materials have such high inherent stiffness as is the case with aluminium composite panels, for example, aluminium Dibond, aluminium Cobond or our inexpensive aluminium composite panels. In addition to the low weight of the profiles, the low profile thickness has further advantages. On the one hand, the profiles can be easily shortened or mitred with a hand saw, and on the other hand, the transition from the panel surface to the profile is very small at only one millimetre, so that this is hardly visually noticeable.
With a clamping range of 3 mm, the aluminium H-profiles are perfect for our aluminium composite panels, which we offer in many different colours and decors. The H-profiles, which are used for cladding between two panels, can be used outdoors without hesitation due to their outstanding corrosion resistance. The high-quality, silver surface is not only ideal for silver aluminium composite panels, but also provides an attractive contrast for panels in wood decor or intensive grey tones and enhances the appearance at the butt edges of the panels in a simple but effective way. Especially outdoors, or when used in damp rooms, the edge cover has the advantage that the use of the H-profiles prevents moisture from getting into the masonry through the joints of the adjoining panels, thus better protecting the structure from moisture damage.
Even though the connecting profiles were primarily designed to cover expansion joints in large-area cladding of aluminium composite panels, the application possibilities are much broader. The filigree profiles are also ideal for creating transparent partitions in offices or retail outlets with acrylic glass. In addition, the profiles are also excellently suited as door threshold profiles for vinyl floor coverings with a thickness of up to 3.5 mm, which, in contrast to click vinyl, are glued directly to the floor. Another example is the construction of a wall cladding as a shower back wall, which is to be erected with opaque acrylic glass panels.
NOTE: In addition to the H-profiles, we also offer corner profiles and end profiles for panels with a thickness of 3 mm in 1 metre and 2 metre lengths at favourable graduated prices.
The clamping range of the aluminium H-profiles is max. 3.5 mm. The plus tolerance of half a millimetre is necessary because the manufacturing tolerances of aluminium composite panels can vary considerably depending on the manufacturer. However, this also means that the H-profiles do not always have the perfect clamping force. This is especially true if the panel thickness of the aluminium composite panels is slightly less than 3 mm due to the tolerances. Additional bonding with an MS polymer is helpful in such cases. This hybrid adhesive, which can be applied with a conventional silicone gun, is characterised by a very high adhesive strength and at the same time permanently elastic properties. Our aluminium profiles are provided with a longitudinal recess that serves as a guide when applying the adhesive mass and also contributes to an improved durability of the bonded joint.
