Our aluminium U-profiles are made of solid aluminium with a profile thickness of 1mm and are then anodised for optimum protection against the weather. With a clamping range of 3mm, the silver profiles are ideal as end profiles for covering the edges of aluminium composite panels or our acrylic gas GS panels, which we offer in transparent, coloured or with a self-luminous fluorescent effect in a cut-to-size version.
Due to the low profile thickness, the profiles with a length of 2000mm can be very easily shortened to the required dimension with simple tools. The low thickness also has the advantage that the dead weight of the profiles is very low and yet contributes to a significant increase in bending stiffness, which is sometimes quite low in some plastic panels with 3mm panel thickness.
NOTE: The aluminium end profiles are simply attached to the cut edge of the panels for installation. Especially with smooth surfaces, as is the case with aluminium composite panels, additional bonding with an MS polymer is recommended to ensure a permanent hold.
TIP: We only stock the aluminium U-profiles in the standard length of 2000mm. A simple hand saw with a metal saw blade is sufficient for shortening the end profiles. For a precise cutting result, especially when mitre cutting, we recommend the use of a mitre saw with a suitable saw blade.
We only use anodised aluminium for our aluminium profiles, so that the profiles can be used outdoors without hesitation. During anodising, a protective layer is applied to the smooth, silver surfaces, which is created by anodic oxidation. Through this process of surface treatment, we achieve the greatest possible protection against corrosion, so that environmental and weather influences have no effect on the longevity of the decorative profiles.
Anodised aluminium is characterised by outstanding corrosion resistance. This is an essential property when the U-profiles for aluminium composite panels are to be used outdoors. The profiles are simply placed on the cut edges of the panels and effectively cover the black polyethylene core, which is typical for aluminium composite panels in sandwich construction. Depending on the application, an additional bonding with an MS polymer is helpful for an optimal hold without slipping of the profiles. Especially for sheets with a smooth surface, as is the case with the aluminium composite sheets and acrylic glass sheets in 3mm thickness, bonding can be extremely useful.
NOTE: Our U-profiles with a clamping range of 3mm are available in a length of 2000mm. In addition, we also offer H-profiles and outer corner profiles for panels with identical clamping range at favourable prices.
