Our aluminium U-profiles with a clamping range of 6mm can be used for panels with the corresponding thickness and are available in 1000mm or 2000mm lengths at favourable prices. The profiles are made of solid aluminium and have smooth surfaces in the typical silver colour of aluminium. The outer dimensions of the U-profile are 20mm x 8.5mm x 1000mm or 2000mm. The visible front side of the profile is 12mm wide. The rear side is wider at 20mm to ensure sufficient surface area for bonding. In addition, this ensures the necessary edge distance when fastening with screws, so that there is no risk of edge chipping to the panel edge. In order to be able to use decorative panels with high manufacturing tolerances in terms of thickness, the clamping area is minimally larger with a maximum of 6.5 mm. With a profile thickness of 1 mm, a high degree of inherent rigidity is ensured, while at the same time the profile protrudes only slightly from the panel surface.
Aluminium U-profiles are attached to the outer edges of panels and for this reason are also referred to as end profiles or edge profiles. The profile, which is similar to the letter U in cross-section, encloses the panel edge over the front, cut edge and rear. In contrast to conventional angle profiles in L-shape, this profile shape has a significantly higher rigidity and also enables an invisible screw connection from the rear to improve the stability of 6mm panels with lower bending rigidity. The complete enclosure of the cut edges has the decisive advantage, especially with wood or chipboard, that with non-veneered cut edges there is no risk of the wood swelling due to water.
NOTE: The U-profiles are simply pushed onto the outer edges of the panels, but should be additionally glued or screwed with a suitable adhesive for a secure hold.

TIP:The aluminium U-profiles are optionally available in lengths of 1000mm or 2000mm. A conventional hand saw for metal is sufficient to shorten the end profiles. For an optimal cutting result, we recommend the use of a cross-cut saw or mitre saw with metal saw blade.
We only use anodised aluminium for our aluminium profiles so that the profiles can be used outdoors without hesitation. By anodising, an oxidic protective layer is applied to the smooth, silver surfaces, which is created by anodic oxidation. In this way, we achieve the greatest possible protection against corrosion that can be caused by the environment and weathering.
Our aluminium U-profiles have a low thickness of only 1mm. The advantages of the low profile thickness are low weight, a discreet transition from the profile to the surface of the panel and very easy processing. For example, the U-profiles can be cut to size very easily with a small hand saw, although a chop saw or mitre saw usually contributes to a cleaner cut. However, you do not have to do without a high level of stability despite the low profile thickness, because the edge profiles are made of a high-quality aluminium alloy, which results in a high inherent rigidity of the profile.

Anodised aluminium is characterised by outstanding corrosion resistance. Not least because edge profiles are popular for visually enhancing balcony surrounds or facade panels, our unpainted aluminium U-profiles are offered exclusively as anodised versions. Alternatively, powder coatings in the colour of your choice according to the RAL colour system are also possible. However, due to the wide range of colour variations, this is only possible on request and is associated with longer delivery times. If facade cladding is erected with external corner profiles and H-profiles in order to protect the substructure or thermal insulation behind them from rain and moisture, edge profiles are the perfect addition for a homogeneous overall appearance. Although these usually have no effect on the reduction of thermal and cold bridges, since end profiles are attached to the outer edges of the facade cladding, they do have the effect of covering the visible cut edges of the cladding panels. This means that, among other things, rough saw cuts and edge chipping can be easily concealed.
Aluminium is timeless and the typical silver surface can be combined as desired with coloured panels, transparent panels such as acrylic glass or even decorative panels with a wood look. This creates an appealing look that contributes to a high-quality overall appearance, especially in interior design. The end profiles can be used, for example, for individual framing of pictures and whiteboards. They can also be used for illuminated displays and advertising signs to enhance the visual impression. In addition, cutting edges are covered, so that the risk of injury from cutting on the usually sharp-edged saw edges is considerably reduced. The high rigidity of the solid aluminium profiles also means that larger panel formats with a thickness of only 6 mm can be stabilised, because depending on the material, the bending rigidity of a panel can be quite low.

The end profiles made of light aluminium are suitable for panels with a thickness of 6mm. Depending on the thickness tolerance of the panel material, the clamping force of the profile may vary, so we recommend additional bonding with a suitable adhesive. With an MS polymer, you are on the safe side, because this hybrid adhesive adheres to almost all surfaces and has outstanding adhesive strength with enormous initial adhesion. In addition, MS polymers are permanently elastic, so that the adhesive remains elastic and does not crack even with plastic sheets that expand when exposed to heat. The profile rail is provided with a guide groove on the inside. This allows the adhesive to be applied easily in a straight line and also improves the durability of the joint.
End profiles are not usually subject to any significant mechanical stresses. If these are used for interior fittings, partition walls, room dividers or in furniture construction, it can also make sense to screw the profile to the panel instead of gluing. For this purpose, we offer a large selection of high-quality HSS drills in profile-ground professional quality in our online shop, because the fastening points in the profile rail must be pre-drilled for screwing. The diameter of the drill should correspond to the thread size of the screw or be slightly larger. When choosing the screws, it is also important to ensure that they are sufficiently short so that the tip of the screw is not screwed through the panel and the screw connection is visible on the front.
