Aluminium Composite Panel Rust Look 3mm – distinctive metal look cut to size

The aluminium composite panel in a rust look combines the appearance of corroded metal surfaces with the advantages of a lightweight, flat 3 mm composite panel. The rust decor features varying brown, orange and dark tones and has a slightly textured surface, giving the panel not only a visual appearance but also a tactile feel that comes closer to a real rust surface.

Unlike real rusting steel, the surface remains clean and controlled: it does not stain, does not form loose rust particles and does not need to be protected against further corrosion. This makes the panel particularly suitable for wall cladding, shopfitting, exhibition stand construction, signs, counter fronts and decorative surfaces where a rust effect is desired but real sheet steel would be too heavy or too complex to use.

You receive your panel in 3 mm thickness as a millimetre-precise cut-to-size panel up to 2000 mm × 1000 mm. The visible side features the textured metal look, while the reverse side is white primer-coated and therefore well prepared for bonding. One-sided rust decor with white primer-coated reverse side

The rust look is located on the side that will remain visible later. For wall cladding, counter fronts, shower wall panels, cabinet backs or cover panels, the aluminium composite panel is usually mounted over the full surface, meaning the reverse side is not visible. For this reason, the front side is designed as a textured rust decor, while the reverse side is white primer-coated and prepared for bonding. This provides a realistic rust effect on the visible surface and an installation-friendly reverse side.

Note: The rust surface is neither real rust nor a RAL colour shade. The effect is created by a decor with an irregular pattern. Depending on the cut and the panel area, rust tones, texture and colour distribution may vary slightly. Please remove the protective film completely only after processing and installation.

On request, the aluminium composite panel rust look can be prepared ready for installation. In addition to rectangular cutting, drill holes, cut-outs and individual contours are also possible, for example for sockets in a kitchen splashback, fittings in a shower wall panel or fixing points for wall cladding. This means the panel arrives not only in the right size, but also with the openings you need for installation.

Processing & installation

The 3 mm thick aluminium composite panel rust look consists of a lightweight PE core with aluminium cover layers on both sides. This keeps the panel dimensionally stable, while still making it very easy to saw, drill and mill. For clean cut edges, we recommend a stable support, a suitable saw blade and steady guidance of the saw.

Ideally, the panel should be sawn from the reverse side. This means the decorative side with protective film lies on the support and remains better protected during processing.

Note: The protective film should only be removed completely after cutting, drilling and installation.

For discreet installation without visible screw heads, the aluminium composite panel with rust decor can be bonded using a suitable MS polymer adhesive, e.g. Parabond 600 in Grey. A load-bearing, clean and as even as possible substrate is important so that the panel lies flat over the full surface and the rust look appears calm and even.

Alternatively, the panel can be screwed or riveted. This is particularly suitable when the fixing may remain visible or when the textured metal look is intended to have a deliberately technical appearance.
