Our compact hole saw with a diameter of 22mm impresses with its maximum precision, durability and user-friendliness – ideal for precise drilling in a wide variety of materials. With a maximum cutting depth of 24mm, it is perfect for a wide range of applications in interior construction, furniture making or electrical installations. The combination of cobalt-alloyed M42 steel and high-quality HSS steel ensures an extremely sharp cutting edge and an above-average service life – even with frequent use. The well-designed system consists of perfectly coordinated components. A robust drill bit with a diameter of 22mm with a welded 9mm triangular shank for a secure hold in the drill chuck, a precision-ground centring drill bit made of HSS steel (6mm) and a powerful ejector spring that effortlessly ejects the drill core. The drill bit is easy to replace and the ejector spring can also be easily removed if necessary. The small hole saw is compatible with both cordless screwdrivers and corded drills.
Small, versatile and durable – thanks to professional quality made from bi-metal with variable toothing
Thanks to the progressive alternating teeth, precise cuts can be made in soft to medium-hard wood, as well as in insulation boards, drywall panels or plastic sheets. Even aluminium and other light metals can be worked on easily with the bi-metal hole saw. With a diameter of 22mm, the hole saw is ideal for feeding cables or copper pipes for heating or water connections through drywall.
A good hole saw is characterised by high-quality workmanship and high-quality materials. This results in high durability and a precise, clean cut with no rough edges. Our professional bi-metal saws are therefore made of HSS steel and M42 steel with a cobalt alloy, and the individual saw teeth are hardened for lasting sharpness. The alternating alignment to the inside and outside of the circle cuts effortlessly through all suitable materials without jamming. Holes in the crown jacket help to quickly remove chips from the drill bit, which again reduces the amount of force required. This not only protects the battery, but also allows the use of compact mini cordless screwdrivers with lower torque.
To ensure that the drill bits can be clamped into all standard drill machines and cordless screwdrivers, they are equipped with a firmly welded 9mm triangular shank. It fits securely into the drill chuck. This prevents the drill chuck from spinning, as is the case with a cylindrical shank. The shank has a small grub screw so that the centring drill can be loosened with a suitable 2mm Allen key and replaced if necessary. Reasons for this could be replacement with an equivalent HSS-G drill bit when the wear limit is reached, or replacement with a drill bit suitable for the material, such as a wood drill bit or a solid carbide facade panel drill bit.The only thing to note here is that the drill bit has a 6mm round shank for mounting.
The S-Polytec hole saw with a small diameter of 22mm and a cutting depth of 24mm is ideal in many respects. First and foremost, the diameter and depth are perfect for hot and cold water pipes that need to be routed through drywall made of OSB, MDF or plasterboard in order to connect shower, bathtub or washbasin fittings. In addition, the small cut-out is also ideal for drilling through the back wall of wall cabinets so that they can be fixed to the wall with hooks or screws. Individual power cables can also be fed through such a small opening with ease.
HSS-G drill bit for perfect centring
The 6mm centre drill bit made of ground high-speed steel glides effortlessly through metal, wood or drywall and, thanks to its ground tip with a 118° tip angle, has self-centring properties so that the 22mm holes are drilled exactly at the marked position without the drill bit slipping. To ensure that the cut is circular, the saw ring has coarse saw teeth that are alternately inclined inwards and outwards. This progressive alternating tooth design prevents tilting even when drilling deeper holes up to the maximum cutting depth of 24mm.
EXPERT TPP: Use a 6mm wood drill bit for wood and a 6 mm solid carbide drill bit for HPL instead of the HSS drill bit.
Small but mighty
The compact 22mm hole saw is specially designed for high precision, efficiency and durability. This is thanks to several design features: the Vario teeth ensure clean cuts, while holes in the crown wall quickly remove drilling dust and keep the cutting surface clear. The stable 9 mm triangular shank ensures a secure hold in the drill chuck, and the replaceable centring drill allows for precise positioning. The side openings also have a cooling effect, reducing heat build-up and allowing higher speeds than with closed versions. At the same time, they promote smooth removal of sawdust. This not only reduces the effort required for drilling, but also protects the battery when used with less powerful cordless screwdrivers – even when cutting out sections in demanding materials such as aluminium or wood.
Easy ejection thanks to steel spring
A sturdy steel spring ejects the drill core so that it can immediately move on to the next position. This can be easily removed from the centring drill to achieve the maximum cutting depth. In this case, two side holes are used to lever out the cut-out with a small screwdriver.
