The S-Polylight LED recessed spotlight complete set in silver includes the LED power controller, a 2.4 GHz remote control and all necessary connection cables. The set is available with 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 compact mini spotlights. The 36mm LED spotlights produce a cool white light (6000 K) that is very close to the neutrality of daylight at midday, each with a power output of 3 watts. The compact LED power controller serves as a 12V power supply with integrated radio receiver and continuously variable dimming function and can supply up to 12 spotlights with a total power of 36 watts. The silver powder-coated housing made of solid aluminium combines durability with an elegant appearance. Due to their very small dimensions, the spotlights can be discreetly installed in narrow spaces between patio roofs, carports or furniture and provide clear, natural lighting. Indoors, too, they create a neutral lighting atmosphere in open-plan living concepts, lofts or modern kitchens, making rooms appear rich in contrast, fresh and lively.
Our complete LED sets always include the appropriate Ø28mm hole saw!
The S-Polylight LED recessed spotlights come as a practical complete set that provides everything you need for quick and safe installation. The clever plug connections make connection child's play, even without technical knowledge. The powerful 2.4 GHz wireless remote control with a range of up to 30 metres ensures maximum convenience. Not only can the spotlights be conveniently switched on and off, they can also be dimmed – making it easy to adjust the lighting to suit any mood, from a cosy evening on the terrace to bright indoor working light.
NOTE: The set size corresponds to the scope of the included LED spotlights and connection cables.
The compact mini LED spotlights absolutely deserve their name. The silver housing with an outer diameter of only 36mm blends harmoniously into any colour and décor. Thanks to a minimum installation diameter of 28mm and a depth of only 29mm, the spotlights can also be installed in very tight spaces. Robust clamping brackets guarantee a secure hold. This, in combination with IP65 protection class waterproofing, makes the silver spotlights perfect as stylish outdoor lighting for patios, entrance areas or walkways. The spotlights are also versatile for indoor use, for example for accent lighting in cupboards, stairwells or bathrooms. The 5050 SMD LEDs produce a neutral light in cool white with 6000 Kelvin, which is very close to daylight at midday. With a power consumption of 3 watts, each spotlight produces 190 lumens of light, which can be dimmed continuously via the remote control.
The S-Polylight LED Power Controller, which supplies power to the recessed LED spotlights, also acts as a control unit for the wireless remote control. Essentially, it is a 12-volt power supply with a permanently connected cable and Euro plug that plugs directly into a power outlet. An integrated hub with twelve slots is used to connect four to twelve spotlights with a maximum total power of 36 watts. In line with the mini LED spotlights included in the set, the connection cables are also included in the scope of delivery, each of which has a 2-pin plug for the hub and a screw-in plug contact for the spotlight. Each connection cable is five metres long, covering most installation situations. For longer distances, optional 5-metre extension cables are available, which can be used between the LED spotlight and the connection extension.
A small radio remote control for convenient control of the lighting via the LED power controller is also included in the scope of delivery. It offers extensive functions from switching on and off, dimming in 10 or 20% increments, and direct selection buttons for specific lighting situations. Thanks to 2.4 GHz radio transmission, no direct line of sight to the receiver is necessary. The remote control with a shock-resistant ABS plastic housing in black even works through walls – up to a distance of 30 metres from the controller. The buttons on the top are pleasantly rubberised, while the back, as is usual for remote controls, has a small battery compartment for two 1.5-volt AAA batteries.
The LED spotlights are recessed spotlights that are held in place in the mounting opening with spring clamps. This requires cut-outs with a diameter of 28mm. However, we include the appropriate hole saw FREE of charge with every complete set so that installation can begin without delay. This is a high-quality bi-metal hole saw with progressive alternating teeth, which is suitable for a wide variety of materials, such as wood, light metal, plastic, plasterboard, aluminium composite panels or HPL. An HSS drill bit with a precision-ground tip and spirals ensures precise positioning of the cut-outs. It can be easily removed using a small grub screw. An ejector spring makes it easier to remove the cut-out. A solid triangular shank is used for mounting. This can be clamped into any chuck, so that the hole saw can be operated with any standard cordless screwdriver.
Installing the LED lighting is quick and easy. Everything you need is included in the delivery – including the 28mm hole saw made of high-quality bi-metal. A simple cordless screwdriver is all you need to install the spotlights. Two 1.5-volt AAA batteries are also included to operate the remote control. This means that the modern lighting is ready for use after just three simple steps.
1. Drilling the mounting holes
To install the recessed spotlights, first mark the desired positions. Make sure that the installation depth of at least 29mm is guaranteed. At the same time, bear in mind that the connection cables must be laid from the desired position to the power controller without any obstacles. Then cut out round holes with a diameter of 28mm. Each complete LED set contains a suitable bi-metal hole saw for this purpose, which can be easily inserted into any standard cordless screwdriver. The integrated centring drill ensures that the holes are drilled precisely. The speed should be adjusted to the respective material in order to achieve perfect results.
2. Wiring the spotlights
Before inserting the LED spotlights with the spring-loaded clamps into the cut-outs, the connection cables must be laid from the respective LED spotlight to the power controller. The small white 2-pin plug must always point towards the controller, as these will later be plugged into the HUB. Despite the robust cable sheathing, the cable should not be pulled over sharp edges or stretched excessively to avoid damage. If the 5-metre cable length is not sufficient, it can be extended by a further 5 metres using an optional connection extension via the screw-on plug contact on the spotlight. The connection is very easy, even for less experienced DIY enthusiasts (I'm not allowed to write ‘foolproof’). The round plug of the cable is inserted into the coupling on the LED spotlight and the plastic screw connection is tightened by hand. An indentation prevents incorrect insertion and a small rubber seal provides reliable protection against dust and splash water – a decisive advantage for outdoor installations. Once each spotlight has been connected with a supply cable, it is plugged into the hub. There are 12 individual slots available for this purpose, each of which is plugged into a white 2-pin plug. Here, too, the shape of the plug ensures that the polarity is maintained. After that, the manual work is complete.
3. Coupling the controller
Before plugging the LED power controller into the mains, insert the batteries into the remote control and keep it handy. As soon as the controller is powered up, the lighting will start automatically. Within the first five seconds after switching on, the mode button in the centre of the round brightness control on the remote control should be pressed briefly to establish the connection between the controller and the remote control. After that, the lighting can be conveniently switched on and off by radio and the brightness can be continuously adjusted. If there are several controllers, the pairing button must be held down a little longer so that all controllers in pairing mode are connected to the system in sequence.
WARNING: The LED recessed spotlights may only be operated using the DR-CON36W LED power controller or the DR-HOME36W SmartHome controller. Other 12-volt power supplies may impair the functionality of the LED spotlights. Only the supplied connection cables or optional S-Polylight extension cables may be used for connection. Direct connection of the 12-volt spotlights to the 230-volt mains supply is not possible and is dangerous, as it may cause serious damage to equipment and pose a significant risk to persons.
