Our plastic cover strips made of opal PVC are available in 2-metre lengths and 6mm or 8mm widths. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a flame-retardant plastic with good chemical resistance to acids and bases. In addition, PVC is also highly resistant to fats and oils and is particularly important when used as a slot cover in plant construction. The milky, cloudy colour appears fairly inconspicuous in silver construction profiles and creates a homogeneous overall appearance. With a light transmission of around 50%, the slot cover strips are very well suited for lighting integrated into the profile.
The cover strips are suitable for all construction profiles with a groove width of 6 or 8 mm and are simply placed on the slot from above and lightly pressed into place. This includes both I-system profiles and those of all other manufacturers, as well as type B profiles. The lateral covers ensure a secure hold in the groove.
NOTE: The plastic mouldings are available in the standard length of 2000mm. However, a large pair of scissors or a cutter knife are sufficient options to shorten them.
The plastic cover strips are made of hard PVC and are quite thin, giving a translucent, opal surface. PVC is a non-flammable plastic with good chemical resistance. In addition, PVC has good stability, which, due to the thinness of the material, is flexible enough to allow the strips to be pressed into the groove and, if necessary, easily removed again. Depending on the design, the width is 8mm or 6mm. The length is always 2 metres. The height of the holding strips, which are arranged on both sides of the cover strip, varies, depending on the width. These are around 3mm or around 5mm high and ensure a firm, secure hold in the groove profile.
The thin plastic strips are made of opal, milky-cloudy PVC, which has a light transmission of about 50%. This makes the profile slot covers ideal for illuminated profile slots, for example using self-adhesive LED strips that can be easily glued into the slot of the construction profile. The plastic cover diffuses the light so that the light points of the individual LEDs are no longer clearly recognisable.
We supply the cover strips in a length of 2000mm, but they can easily be shortened using large scissors, a side cutter or a sharp knife. After measuring and cutting, the cover strips can be pressed into the profile slot. This is very easy and requires no significant effort. You start at one end and work your way along the slot, piece by piece, until the entire slot is covered. When you reach internal profile connectors, the cover strip must be cut off. For profile connectors that are attached to the profile with slot nuts, the cover strip can be pushed slightly under the angle brackets to achieve a seamless transition.
To remove the cover strips again, simply lift them slightly on one side with a screwdriver or similar tool until you can grasp the strip. You can then easily remove it lengthwise from the construction profile. However, removing the cover strip will not damage it. So, it can be reused at any time.
NOTE: In the case of constructions with internal profile connectors, the plastic moulding must be shortened a little further, as it cannot be inserted into the slot in the area where the profile connector is located. Alternatively, the holding rods can be cut off flush on the bottom side to achieve a continuous look for the cover strip.
The cover strips are used primarily for visual reasons: to close the open slots of construction profiles in order to achieve a uniform overall appearance. Thanks to the good light transmission of the PVC plastic strips, these are also very suitable for installing LED lighting in the profile slots to create an exciting lighting effect on the shelf, wall or ceiling. The opal plastic diffuses the light, so that individual light points from LED spots merge into a light strip. The connection cables of the LED strips, as well as other cabling, can be easily laid in the slot profiles. The cover strips act like a lid on a cable duct. How many cables fit into a profile slot depends on the profile, its slot width and slot depth.
