The white Aqua-Plus PP-R couplings with external thread are available in many different versions. The high-quality brass thread varies in size, depending on the version, from 1/2" to 1 1/4". The receptacle for the PP-R pipe on the opposite side is available in sizes from DN20 to DN40. This enables a welded connection from the PP-R pipe system to other pipe systems with a screw connection.
With the corresponding PP-R pipe coupling with internal thread, connections of two sections of a PP-R pipe system are created in no time at all. In addition, any other connection that has an internal thread of the appropriate size can also be created on the external thread. These include connections for pool and pond pumps, radiators, pressure boilers or even solar thermal panels.
Our PP-R coupling with firmly integrated brass thread is made of food-safe polypropylene random copolymer approved for drinking water, which is characterised by very good impact strength and temperature resistance. Like all Aqua-Plus fittings and pipes, the coupling is suitable for hot and cold water pipes from -10°C to +95°C and can withstand a continuous pressure of up to 26bar, depending on the temperature. The standards required for drinking water approval are always complied with and confirmed by the DVGW and SKZ with corresponding certificates.
A special feature of PP-R couplings with male thread is that the inner diameter of the brass insert is completely covered by the polypropylene. This ensures a constant diameter that is perfectly matched to the pipe connection. The threaded insert is also deeply integrated into the plastic on the outside. This ensures a tight fit in the plastic, which is characterised by a maximum service life. Even if the screw connection is frequently loaded with high tightening torques.
To limit the optimum insertion depth, the internal diameter between the pipe holder and the brass thread is matched to the internal diameter of the corresponding PP-R pipe. The high-quality plastic extends to the outer edge of the thread so that the flow inside the coupling is not restricted.
The coupling with external thread is used to connect PP-R pipes and a screw coupling with internal thread in the appropriate size. To realise this, the PP-R coupling and the PP-R pipe must be softened by heating with a socket welder. To do this, both components must be inserted simultaneously into or onto the holder of the welding device, heated for a certain time and then immediately joined together. The pipe must be inserted straight and without turning into the pipe holder of the coupling until the insertion depth is reached. Finally, the welded joint should rest for a while to cool down.

We have prepared these separately because they contain specific information on welding and assembly. This includes information on the insertion depth, the heating time and the cooling time after insertion.
The permanently integrated male thread of the pipe coupling varies in diameter, depending on the design. To make a connection to a metal pipe, a flexible pipe section or another PP-R pipe, these must have a female coupling - i.e. a screw coupling with internal thread - of the same size, which is screwed onto the external thread. The advantage is that such a pipe connection can be loosened at any time, compared to welded connections with pipe sockets on both sides.
NOTE: For pipe connections with brass threads, some hemp or Teflon tape is recommended for additional sealing.
