Aluminium Composite Panel Wood Decor Dark Ash 3mm

The Dark Ash aluminium composite panel combines the appearance of dark-stained wood with the advantages of a lightweight, flat 3 mm composite panel. The decor shows a dark ash grain with fine light-dark contrasts and has a light texture along the grain. To ensure that the wood pattern runs harmoniously after cutting, the panel is cut according to your configuration and the grain direction is aligned along the selected length. The reverse side is white and adhesion-primed and is not of significant relevance for the cut-to-size configuration.

Depending on where it is used, real wood can warp, absorb moisture and require regular surface care. The Dark Ash aluminium composite panel, by contrast, remains sealed, easy to care for and dimensionally stable, without oiling, staining or varnishing. This also makes it suitable for applications where moisture, weathering or frequent cleaning play a role. It is particularly useful for dark splashbacks in kitchens or showers, counter fronts in gastronomy and shopfitting, or exterior cladding where the dark panel creates a high-quality wood look.

The panel configuration can be freely selected up to 2000 mm in length and 1000 mm in width. The grain of the wood decor always runs along the selected length. Thanks to our Holzma panel saws, the panel is cut gently and with millimetre precision according to your desired configuration.

Wood decor on one side, white adhesion-primed reverse side

The visible side shows the Dark Ash decor with dark grain and a lightly textured surface. On counter fronts, wall panels, furniture cladding or shopfitting surfaces, the reverse side usually lies fully against the substrate and is not visible later. For this reason, it is already prepared for bonding with a white adhesion primer. This creates a continuous dark wood surface on the front, while the reverse side takes care of the practical part of the fixing.

Note: The stained ash look is created by dark brown tones, visible grain patterns and fine colour gradients. Depending on the cut and the area of the panel, the grain and colour effect may vary slightly. The actual surface can only be reliably assessed without the protective film; however, the film should only be fully removed after processing and installation.

Aluminium composite panels are weather-resistant and waterproof. This makes them significantly easier to maintain than real wood outdoors or in environments with high humidity.

Cutting & CNC machining

The Dark Ash aluminium composite panel is cut to size with millimetre precision according to your configuration. If a standard cut is not sufficient because fittings are required for shower or vanity splashbacks, cable or light feed-throughs for exterior lights, cut-outs for facade cladding or fixing points for privacy screens and wall panels, we can further process the panel with our CNC milling service. This means you receive the panel not only in the correct size, but also, on request, with drill holes, cut-outs or individual contours, ready for installation.

Processing & installation

During processing, the Dark Ash aluminium composite panel shows its practical advantage over a thin wooden board: at 3 mm thick it remains lightweight, while the black PE core with aluminium cover layers makes it noticeably more rigid. Cuts, drill holes and milled sections can be carried out very easily with suitable tools. A fine-toothed saw blade is recommended for a clean cut, and an HSS drill bit for drilling. Before sawing, the grain direction should be checked so that the dark wood decor later runs correctly across the surface.

Note: The protective film should remain on the decorative side until processing and installation have been completed.

Depending on the structure, the Dark Ash aluminium composite panel can be fixed by bonding, screwing or riveting. On smooth, load-bearing wall surfaces, full-surface bonding is recommended. On wooden or metal substructures, the panel can also be fixed mechanically.

For bonding, a high-performance MS polymer adhesive such as our Parabond 600 is suitable. The white reverse side is already ideally prepared for this type of installation with its adhesion primer. It is important that the substrate is clean, dust-free, as even as possible and load-bearing. This allows the panel to lie flat across the surface and gives the dark wood look a calm, premium appearance.

If a removable or structural fixing is required, the panel can be screwed or riveted. Facade screws are suitable for wooden substructures, while facade rivets are the right choice for metal substructures.
