With the Högert ERGO Grip pipe cutter, we offer a high-quality pipe cutter in craftsman quality that is suitable for plastic pipes up to a diameter of 42mm. Thanks to the ratchet feed, even thicker-walled PP-R pipes can be cut with little effort. The carbon steel blade glides effortlessly through the pipe and ensures a precise, straight cut. The ERGO Grip pipe cutter can be used equally well for PP-R line pipes or PVC cable conduits. Furthermore, due to the solid blade made of abrasion-resistant carbon steel, the pipe cutter is also very well suited for cutting multi-layer composite pipes made of PEX/AL, which are also known as aluminium composite pipes.

Tools from Högert are characterised by a very high quality that meets the high demands of craftsmen and plumbers. This is made clear by the robust construction of the pipe cutter. The robust housing is made of aluminium with a wall thickness of 2 - 3mm. All elements of the mechanism are made of metal. Only the thumb lever for the quick return, the pliers lock, as well as the non-slip grip surface are made of resistant ABS plastic.

The special feature of the ERGO Grip pipe cutter is the blade made of SK5 carbon steel, which, in direct comparison to a stainless steel blade, is characterised by a higher abrasion resistance with a lower blade thickness. This ensures a very precise cutting action, resulting in a very precise straight cutting pattern. Another advantage of the carbon steel blade is the reduced effort required, as the thinner blade thickness allows it to glide through the material more easily. In contrast to saws, cutting with a pipe cutter has the advantage that the time-consuming deburring of the cut edge is not necessary.

For safe handling, the pliers are equipped with a quick-return mechanism that also functions as an emergency release. This can be triggered by an easy-to-reach thumb lever, so that the blade quickly returns to the open end position. The non-slip, profiled handle with fine knobs ensures that the pliers always lie comfortably in the hand. This is ergonomically shaped, so that even with several consecutive cuts there are no signs of fatigue or pain in the wrist. A blade blockade on the back serves for safe storage and prevents the pliers from opening by themselves.

Handling the pipe cutter for plastic pipes

The ERGO Grip pipe cutter from Högert is suitable for cutting plastic pipes made of PP-R, PE, PVC, PEX/AL and many more and can be used up to a pipe diameter of 42mm. The blade slides straight through the pipe, resulting in a straight, precise cut without burr. To do this, the blade lock at the end of the handle must first be released. Then the quick return must be triggered to open the blade completely. This is achieved by pressing the thumb lever on the left side of the pliers. Now the pipe can be inserted into the pipe guide and the ratchet feed triggered by pressing the handle. As long as the blade has not yet entered the pipe, the position for cutting can still be changed. Each time the handle is pulled together, the blade slides further through the pipe until it is completely cut at the twelfth feed.

After the pipe has been cut, the blade remains in the closed position and can be opened again very easily by the quick return to cut another pipe to the desired length. All plastic pipes and hoses are suitable. The pliers can therefore be used in the same way in sanitary installations for cutting PP-R pipes, multi-layer composite pipes or aluminium composite pipes, as well as by electricians for cutting to length plastic PVC conduits or flexible cable conduits.

Care and maintenance of the pipe cutter

For safe storage of the pipe cutter, it should be completely closed and locked against unintentional opening via the blade lock at the end of the handle. In order not to impair the very long service life, the housing, as well as the blade, should always be kept clean.
