Special adhesive for rigid PVC pipes and sheets

Gap-filling ✓ Does not run or drip ✓ THF-free ✓

With the special adhesive PVCprofi of our own brand S-Polybond, we offer a PVC adhesive for industrial, commercial use that has been specially developed for bonding polyvinyl chloride to each other. The practical brush bottle with a filling capacity of 125ml enables easy application without dripping. Even after application, the gel-shaped, transparent adhesive does not run.

S-Polybond PVCprofi is especially suitable for bonding plastic sheets and pipes made of rigid PVC. The low-odour adhesive can be easily applied with the application brush and ensures a permanently secure bond. After curing, the bond is watertight and pressure-resistant up to 25 bar and meets the requirements of DIN standard 14814, making the adhesive ideal for bonding cold water and hot water pipes, for drain pipes, as well as for pressure pipes made of PVC.

Admissions from PVCprofi

  • Meets the requirements of the European adhesive standards
  • DIN 14680 - Adhesives for non-pressure thermoplastic piping systems - Specifications
  • DIN 14814 - Adhesives for pressure piping systems made of thermoplastics for fluids under pressure
  • CSTB - Adhesives for PVC pipe joints

Properties of the PVC adhesive PVCprofi

Our PVCprofi has been specially developed for bonding our PVC sheets and is ideally suited for durable and secure adhesive connections of rigid PVC to each other. In addition, the adhesive is ideally suited for waterproof, pressure-resistant connections of drain pipes, pressure pipes and underground PVC pipes made of rigid PVC. The temperature resistance is up to +90 °C after curing. The working temperature of the adhesive, on the other hand, is about +5°C to +35 °C. Thanks to the brush integrated in the lid, application is easy and clean. The gel-shaped adhesive does not drip or run after application.

The adhesive has gap-filling properties and is therefore ideal for joining rigid and flexible PVC pipes, couplings and fittings with a maximum clearance fit of 0.8mm (or press fit of up to 0.2mm). Unlike some other adhesives for rigid PVC, our PVC adhesive does not contain THF (tetrahydrofuran), which has been classified as a possible carcinogen according to the IARC.

  • S-Polybond PVCprofi is a special adhesive for polyvinyl chloride (rigid PVC, PVC-U, PVC-CAW, etc.)
  • S-Polybond PVCprofi is extremely easy to apply thanks to the application brush integrated in the lid
  • S-Polybond PVCprofi is a transparent, gel-like adhesive that does not drip or run when applied.
  • S-Polybond PVCprofi is ideally suited for connections of rigid PVC pipes in the cold and hot water sector
  • S-Polybond PVCprofi withstands pressures up to 25 bar and is therefore also suitable for pressure pipes made of rigid PVC

Processing of the polyvinyl chloride adhesive PVCprofi

Before the bonding of the rigid PVC parts can begin, the bonding areas must be prepared to ensure maximum adhesion as well as water and pressure tightness. To do this, the bonding surfaces should be lightly roughened with fine sandpaper and then cleaned thoroughly with a plastic cleaner to remove fine sanding dust. For edge bonding, as well as when joining pipes, the saw edges should be slightly bevelled. This also makes it easier to join the PVC pipe in the fitting.

The adhesive is applied with the application brush integrated in the lid. The adhesive should be applied evenly and quickly to both joints and the parts to be joined should be brought together immediately afterwards without much delay. When joining PVC pipes, make sure that the adhesive is applied lengthwise, running with the pipe, and that the pipe is not twisted when inserted into the fitting. Before further processing, the joined parts should rest for at least 10 minutes. Complete curing varies, depending on the thickness of the adhesive layer. For pipes, the pipe diameter must also be taken into account. For pipes with a diameter of less than 90mm, the curing time is 1 hour. For pipes with larger diameters, the curing time is 24 hours.

Especially for water-bearing pipes, as well as for pressure pipes, the curing time should always be waited for completely in order not to impair the curing of the adhesive. After the curing time has elapsed, the PVC pipes are watertight and pressure-tight up to 25 bar.

WARNING: The PVC adhesive is not suitable for pipes carrying drinking water, which are intended for human consumption or for bonding rigid PVC in contact with food.
