Description

Hard PVC sheets in black - Solid sheets with protective film on one side

Our rigid PVC sheets in rich black are available as standard sheets with a length of 2000mm and a width of 1000mm, as well as in thicknesses of 1,0mm-40,0mm. In order to ensure the same black colour on the sawed and cut edges as well as on the smooth surfaces, our black rigid PVC sheets are fully coloured. The smooth surfaces of the plastic sheets are protected on one side by a protective film against scratching before and during processing. Our black PVC sheets, like all our rigid PVC sheets, are solid sheets made of 100% virgin material and not rigid foam sheets with a foamed core. In addition, our rigid PVC sheets manufactured in Germany are absolutely free of harmful plasticisers.

Characteristics of our black PVC Sheets

Rigid PVC is a dimensionally stable plastic with high rigidity, which also has good chemical resistance. For this reason the black PVC sheets are very often used in the chemical industry for the production of containers for chemicals or for covers and housings of chemical plants. Moreover, rigid PVC is electrically insulating. This property makes PVC also suitable for the production of housings of electrical devices or in the machine and plant construction.

Rigid PVC is one of the few plastics which, depending on its thickness, complies with the fire protection standard DIN 4102 B1 (flame-retardant) and is therefore very often used for the construction of fire protection equipment, equipment covers or as partitions, advertising signs and wall covers in public areas.

Approvals for rigid PVC in black

  • DIN 4102 B1 flame-retardant with thicknesses of 1mm - 4mm (General building authority test certificate)
  • UL 94 V0 from a thickness of 1mm
  • NF P 92-501 M1 with thicknesses of1mm - 3mm
  • BS 476 class 1 for the thickness of 3mm

Standards for rigid PVC in black

  • REACH (EU Chemicals regulation)
  • RoHS (Regulation banning hazardous substances in the electrical industry)
  • PAK (Directive on compliance with limit values for polyaromatic hydrocarbons)

On request we can supply our black rigid PVC sheets directly in your desired size.

You do not want to cut the black PVC sheets yourself and order them directly in the sizes you need instead? Thanks to our modern panel saws, this is no problem. Simply send us your enquiry, specifying the required dimensions for length and width in millimetres, as well as the desired thickness and the required quantities of your PVC sheets. Our sales staff will deal with your request as quickly as possible and send you a tailor-made, reasonably priced offer in accordance with your specifications.

We manufacture your milled parts from black rigid PVC exactly according to your design drawing.

Milled parts according to your sketch or construction drawing in individual shapes, with cut-outs, drill holes or chamfers are possible for us thanks to our modern CNC milling centres with 3-axis technology. All information about our milling service can be found here.

Application examples for rigid PVC in black

  • Rigid PVC in black is very often used for partition walls in trade fair construction and in interior areas
  • Black rigid PVC meets various fire protection standards and is therefore often used in mechanical engineering
  • Rigid PVC is very often used in building construction due to its high rigidity and dimensional stability
  • PVC Black is often used in the chemical industry because of its good chemical resistance

Processing of rigid PVC in black

Rigid PVC can be processed very easily using the most common processing techniques. For cutting our black PVC sheets, simple tools for wood processing are sufficient. It should be noted, however, that a low speed should be used when milling, sawing or turning rigid PVC, as the material can burn if the speed is too high, which leads to the formation of hydrochloric acid which attacks tools and machines. The same applies to drilling PVC, but here the temperature can be kept low by using liquid soap as a coolant and lubricant. Punching PVC, as well as cutting with a water jet cutting machine are other possible processing methods. Cutting with a CO2 laser, on the other hand, is not possible with rigid PVC because of the heat generated.

PVC is a thermoplastic and as such can be excellently shaped under the influence of heat. Thermoforming is also a widely used technique, especially in the industrial production of finished plastic parts made of black rigid PVC. For deep-drawing of our black PVC sheets, the protective film on one side must be removed, as it is not suitable for deep-drawing.

Our black PVC sheets can be easily labelled with a foil or glued over the entire surface. It is also possible to apply digital prints on a film. Direct printing on the black plates is also possible, but would be hardly or not at all visible due to the dark surface. Our rigid PVC sheets can be lacquered, but especially if the lacquered surface is very demanding, a suitable primer should be used as an adhesion promoter before applying the lacquer layer.

PVC can be glued very well. This applies both to bonding PVC to PVC and to bonding PVC to other plastics, such as ABS, polystyrene, acrylic glass or polycarbonate. We recommend our clear-curing plastic adhesive Ruderer L530, which bonds plastics quickly and easily (except PE, PP and PTFE). To bond our black PVC sheets in larger formats or to attach them to walls and ceilings, we advise you to use our special MS-Polymer Parabond 600 in black, which, thanks to its enormous adhesive power and very high initial adhesion, also bonds large sheet formats and thicker sheets securely and permanently. Parabond 600 also adheres easily to damp substrates and to almost all materials used in the construction industry, such as concrete, stone, natural stone, wood, etc.

TIP: PVC sheets should not be processed on CO² laser equipment, as the burning of PVC produces hydrochloric acid which immediately attacks all parts of the laser equipment. All metal parts of the system would rust immediately after contact with hydrochloric acid.
