Our S-Polylight outdoor LED spotlight set with 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 mini LED recessed spotlights in anthracite made of high-quality aluminium is ideal for indoor and outdoor use thanks to protection class IP65 and sealed screw connections. Due to pre-assembled cables with plug connections, connection is completely tool-free. The LED SmartHome controller for up to 12 spots with a single output of 3 watts offers extensive SmartHome functions thanks to an integrated WiFi module, with control via remote control, smartphone or voice command, such as dimming, time control and group switching. Of course, the lighting can be switched in the traditional way using a conventional light switch. The set contains everything you need for operation. Starting with the controller with remote control, connection cables for the LED spotlights, to the very compact recessed spotlights with a robust powder coating in anthracite grey (RAL 7016). Both the colour and the very small dimensions of 36 mm outer diameter, 28 mm mounting diameter and 26 mm installation depth are perfect for integration into patio roofs. The warm white light (3000 Kelvin) creates a cosy, atmospheric ambience in the evening hours.

The S-Polylight LED Power Controller DR-HOME36W combines a power supply unit and control unit in a single device and provides central power supply and control for LED lighting. It delivers a constant output voltage of 12 volts and supports the operation of up to twelve DR-SP3W LED recessed spotlights with a maximum total output of 36 watts. The permanently connected power cable with a length of 90 centimetres and Euro plug allows direct connection to an existing socket. Equipped with an integrated dimmer, the controller enables stepless adjustment of the brightness. The controller also has a WiFi module for extended SmartHome functions. The entire lighting system can be controlled via a WiFi network using the compatible Smart Life app. Functions, such as switching on and off and stepless dimming, can be conveniently managed via smartphone. In addition, the system can be connected to common voice assistants such as Alexa™ or Google Home™, allowing control via voice command. Furthermore, the system can be conveniently controlled using the supplied 4-channel remote control. Thanks to their compact design, the power supply unit and HUB can be easily installed in cavities, behind drywall or in suspended ceilings. This means that the technical installation remains completely concealed and the lighting blends seamlessly into the overall appearance.

The complete set includes a multifunctional 4-channel wireless remote control that allows you to conveniently dim, switch on and off up to four lighting groups. Thanks to advanced wireless technology, the remote control works effortlessly, even without direct visual contact with the SmartHome controller. Even if the lighting is installed in another room. The white housing made of high-quality ABS plastic feels pleasant in the hand, while the rubberised buttons ensure smooth, precise control. The battery compartment is concealed on the back and holds two 1.5V AAA batteries, which are required for operation (not included).

A hole saw is required to install the recessed spotlights. We include this free of charge with every complete set. It is a high-quality bi-metal hole saw with a diameter of 28mm, perfectly matched to our DR-SP3W mini recessed spotlights. It is ideal for materials such as plasterboard, MDF, OSB, HPL or even aluminium. The precise HSS centring drill bit ensures accurate drilling and can be easily replaced if necessary. Thanks to the robust triangular shank, the saw sits securely in the drill chuck and fits into any standard cordless screwdriver.

Installation and connection of outdoor recessed spotlights in anthracite

No special tools or electrical installation expertise are required for installation and wiring. A standard cordless screwdriver is sufficient to drill the mounting holes using the hole saw provided. Connection, on the other hand, is completely tool-free via simple screw or plug connections. To start using it, you need to connect the LED SmartHome Controller to your smartphone via an app – we recommend the Smart Life app – and an existing Wi-Fi network. This lets you easily turn the lights on and off or adjust the brightness using your smartphone. The 4-channel wireless remote control can then be paired with the controller. In addition, the lighting can be integrated into common voice assistants such as Amazon's Alexa or Google Assistant by adding the Smart Life skill in the apps and operated by voice commands.

1. Drilling the mounting holes
The first step is to prepare the openings for the LED spotlights. To do this, mark the desired installation positions on the corresponding surface. A suitable bi-metal hole saw is included free of charge with every LED set. It has a stable triangular shank and can be easily clamped into the drill chuck of a standard cordless screwdriver. The integrated centring drill bit made of high-quality HSS steel enables precise and effortless drilling in materials such as aluminium, wood, plasterboard or plastic. This allows the recessed spotlights to be flexibly integrated into a wide variety of surfaces – for example, in the cross struts of a patio roof, in wooden cladding on dormer windows or in ceilings and walls indoors. Thanks to their IP65 protection class, the LED spotlights are also suitable for damp rooms such as bathrooms or WCs, where they provide atmospheric, warm white light.

2. Laying the connection cables
After drilling the mounting holes, lay the connection cables. These are already equipped with matching plug connections on both sides and are ready for immediate use. The black, round plug with screw thread is attached directly to the LED spotlight and screwed securely in place. This creates a stable, weatherproof connection. The smaller, white plug is simply plugged into the hub of the LED power controller later. First, the cable is fed through the opening of the spotlight and laid to the desired position of the controller. If the standard cable length of five metres is not sufficient, it can be extended by a further five metres with an optional extension cable. This is easily inserted between the spotlight and the connection cable and securely connected using the screw connection. When laying the cable, make sure that it does not run over sharp edges or under tension to avoid damage. Each spotlight requires its own cable to the controller – therefore, the number of connection cables in the set is always exactly matched to the number of LED spotlights included.

3. Connecting the LED spotlights
Once the connection cables have been laid, the individual LED spotlights can be connected. To do this, simply insert the round plug on the spotlight into the coupling on the corresponding connection cable. A small notch ensures that the polarity is correct, which is very important with 12-volt direct current. Then, tighten the screw connection. A small rubber seal inside the coupling reliably protects the connection from dust and splash water. Care should be taken when inserting the spots to avoid injury. The two retaining brackets have a strong spring force to hold the spots securely in the hole. To insert them, turn the brackets away from the LED body towards the cable and carefully guide them through the mounting hole. The final step is to connect the 2-pin plugs at the other end of the connection cables to the LED SmartHome controller. To do this, simply plug them into the black hub. This offers a total of 12 slots, each of which is intended for a single spotlight. Thanks to the special plug shape, it is not possible to insert them incorrectly. Once all the recessed spotlights included in the set are connected, the wiring is complete.

4. Pairing with your smartphone
To put the LED SmartHome controller into pairing mode, briefly interrupt the power supply five times by plugging and unplugging the power plug several times. The LED spots will then start flashing to indicate that pairing mode is active. The free ‘Smart Life’ app from Volcano Technologies (for Android™ und iOS™)is ideal for connecting to your smartphone. The app is intuitive to use, is updated regularly and is compatible with voice assistants such as Alexa™ und Google™ Home. Simply tap ‘Add device’ or the ‘+’ symbol in the app, then select the ‘Lamp’ category and start the automatic pairing mode. Then select the desired Wi-Fi network, enter the password and the app will automatically connect to the controller. Other Tuya-compatible apps can also be used and are generally very similar in operation, so simply follow the instructions in the respective app to add the controller.

5. Pairing the wireless remote control
While the LED SmartHome controller is still in pairing mode, which is indicated by the connected LEDs flashing, the remote control can be connected to the controller by pressing and holding any channel button. A bright flash of the LED spots indicates that pairing was successful. The lighting can now be selected, switched on and off or dimmed using the channel button, which significantly increases ease of use.

NOTE: In order to pair the remote control with the LED SmartHome controller, the controller must be connected to the Wi-Fi network via the SmartLife app (or another app compatible with Tuya).

WARNING: The LED recessed spotlights must only be wired using the original connection cables or the optional extension cables. Connecting the 12-volt spotlights directly to a 230-volt mains supply is extremely dangerous and must be avoided at all costs! For safe and proper operation, the supplied S-Polylight Power Controller DR-HOME36W must be used. Alternatively, the DR-CON36W (without SmartHome function) can also be used. The use of other devices may impair the function and service life of the LED spotlights.
