Our S-Polylight LED SmartHome Controller DR-HOME36W with electronic dimmer and integrated WiFi module is ideal for individually supplementing existing lighting sets with SmartHome controllers. For example, to control the compact recessed spotlights in different groups or to improve the functionality of existing sets with controllers without SmartHome functionality by replacing the controller. This can be done in just a few simple steps thanks to identical plug connections. The hard-wired hub is suitable for connecting 4 to 12 DR-SP3W LED spotlights with an individual output of 3 watts. The electronically regulated transformer with a variable input voltage of 85 volts to 265 volts AC delivers an output voltage of 12 volts DC with a power of 12 watts with four connected LEDs, up to a maximum power of 36 watts when fully loaded with 12 LED spots.

To use the LED SmartHome controller and the wireless remote control to their full extent you need a smartphone, an app with Tuya connectivity and a Wi-Fi signal, which can then be used to control the LED lighting. The wireless remote control included in the scope of delivery allows convenient operation of the lighting. With it, it can be switched on and off and the brightness of the connected recessed spotlights can be adjusted as desired. Thanks to the integrated WiFi module, control via smartphone is possible at any time and from anywhere in the world. Additional SmartHome devices or functions within the Tuya app also enable timers, switch-on and switch-off times, and links to brightness sensors or cameras with motion detection.

Properties of the DR-HOME36W LED Smart Home Controller

The LED SmartHome Controller consists of two main elements: the hub and the power supply unit. The latter contains the WiFi module and the electronically regulated transformer, which ensures a constant output voltage of 12 volts (DC) for the power supply of the recessed spotlights with a variable input voltage of 85 volts to 265 volts AC. It is connected via a power cable with a Euro plug and is simply plugged into the socket. Both the 90cm power cable and the connection cable to the hub are permanently connected to the controller. The closed PVC housing complies with protection class IP44. This means that it is protected against the ingress of small foreign objects and splash water. This allows it to be used in combination with our outdoor LED spotlights in protected outdoor areas, for example for use as patio roof lighting. Thanks to its relatively small dimensions, the controller can be easily stowed away in cavities, such as the wall connection profile, to ensure invisible cabling of the lighting. The white housing has a length of 165mm, a width of 40mm and a height of 25mm.

A separate HUB is used to connect the LED recessed spotlights. It has six connections on both sides for the 2-pin plugs of our DR-SP3W LED spotlights. The hub is connected to the SmartHome controller via a fixed connection cable. The compact housing of the hub, with a width of 70mm, a height of 25mm and a depth of 33mm, helps to ensure that cabling is possible even in confined spaces and can therefore be easily concealed in small cavities.

TIP: The DR-HOME36W LED SmartHome controller can be replaced one-to-one with an existing DR-CON36W LED power controller to expand the lighting system with SmartHome functions, thanks to identical connections. Please, note that in this case, the controller must be connected to the WLAN as described below. The black remote control for the simple controller without a Wi-Fi module cannot be used to control the SmartHome-enabled controller.

The scope of delivery includes a 4-channel wireless remote control. This is suitable for dimming and switching up to four separate lighting groups on and off. Thanks to the wireless connection, the remote control also works without visual contact to the receiving SmartHome controller, even if the lighting is not installed in the same room. This allows the light to be controlled from any position. The attractive white ABS plastic housing has pleasantly soft rubberised buttons. On the back is the cover for the battery compartment, which holds the two 1.5V AAA batteries required to operate the remote control. These are not included in the scope of delivery.

WARNING: The controller is only suitable for our dimmable LED recessed spotlights of the type DR-SP3W with a single output of 3 watts, which we offer in different housing colours.

Connection and use of the smart LED control unit

The S-Polylight LED SmartHome controller is connected to the individual LED spots via simple plug connectors. No tools are required for connection. The HUB has six connections on each side into which the small white plugs of the connection cables are inserted. These are designed so that the plug can only be inserted in one direction. This prevents incorrect polarity of the 12-volt DC power supply. Once the wiring is complete, you can pair the device with your smartphone and the 4-channel wireless remote control. If you have not already done so, insert two AAA (1.5 volt micro) batteries into the remote control and keep them handy, as pairing takes place immediately after integration into the WiFi network using a Tuya-based app.

Pairing with your smartphone
If necessary, download an app for managing SmartHome-enabled devices to your smartphone and create an account if required. We recommend the free app Smart Life from developer Volcano Technologies Limited (available for Android™ and iOS™), as this app is very easy to use, is updated regularly and, thanks to its widespread use, can also be used with the most common voice assistant systems via so-called skills, such as Alexa™ or Google™ Home¹. However, there are countless other providers that offer apps with Tuya connectivity. To install the app, follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Now put the LED SmartHome controller into pairing mode by disconnecting the power supply five times in succession by pulling out and reinserting the mains plug. The connected LED spots will flash to indicate that pairing mode has been reached. Now start the app and click on ‘+’ or ‘Add device’ and then select the appropriate device category ‘Lamp’. Then select the mode for automatic connection. You will now be prompted to connect to the WiFi network. To do this, select the appropriate Wi-Fi signal from the list of available Wi-Fi networks and enter the corresponding password. The SmartHome controller will now be searched for and automatically connected to the Smart Life app. Depending on the app, the individual steps may vary. These are usually very similar. If in doubt, read the app's instructions for use or ask the operator/developer.

Pairing with the remote control
As long as the LED SmartHome controller is still in pairing mode, the wireless remote control can be connected to the controller. To do this, the controller must already be integrated into the WiFi network via the Smart Life app (or a comparable SmartHome app with Tuya technology). To pair the remote control, press and hold one of the 4 channel buttons (1, 2, 3 or 4) until the LED spots light up briefly. Now all spots connected to the controller via the HUB can be switched on, dimmed and switched off using the corresponding button. The on/off button on the remote control switches all paired controllers on and off at the same time, regardless of which channel they are assigned to.

NOTE: If more than 12 recessed spotlights are used, or several separate SmartHome controllers are used and all are to be controlled simultaneously with a wireless remote control, this is possible by pairing all the desired controllers one after the other via the Smart Life app with your smartphone. Then, while the respective controller is still in pairing mode, linking it to a channel on the remote control is required. This makes it possible to control several controllers on one channel at the same time and to operate up to four different groups separately. A controller can also be created on several channels of the remote control by pressing the buttons of the desired groups simultaneously. This is useful if you want to dim or switch on and off all the lighting via one channel and only a certain part of the lighting via another channel.

Easy disconnecting from the controller
The device can be disconnected from the LED SmartHome controller and the wireless remote control using the Tuya app on your smartphone by removing the device from the device overview. The controller can then be reconnected to the app and assigned to a new channel on the remote control.
