Description

Blind rivets in light grey (RAL 7035) for facade panels

Manufactured in Germany ✓ With facade approval ✓ Painted rivet head ✓

Our facade rivets in light grey (RAL7035) have a high-quality, scratch-resistant lacquering of the head, which is specially matched to our HPL panels in RAL 7035 in terms of colour and gloss level. The aluminium rivets have a large head diameter of 16mm and are therefore often referred to as large-head blind rivets. As facade rivets, these have a building authority approval that allows facade cladding with HPL panels and aluminium composite panels to be erected. The facade approval depends on the panel material, the manufacturer of the panels and the rivet size. We offer the light grey rivets with a sleeve diameter of 5mm in the versions 5x14mm and 5x16mm as well as 5x18mm at reasonable prices.

The facade rivets are produced and painted in Germany to ensure the best possible quality in terms of material, processing and colour accuracy. We do not make any compromises when it comes to the choice of material, and so we have deliberately chosen a high-quality aluminium alloy for the rivet, as this stands for good corrosion resistance and is perfectly suited for facade constructions that are usually built with aluminium profiles. The mandrel, on the other hand, was deliberately chosen in a stainless steel alloy. This allows high tightening torques during riveting, which ensures a secure and durable hold of the facade rivet. The mandrel tears at the specified predetermined breaking point as soon as the maximum tightening torque is reached, so that only the pressed rivet sleeve with the painted rivet head remains.

We do not force you to accept the boxes. With us you buy facade rivets in your desired quantity, regardless of whether you only need one or a large number. The more you buy, the more you can save with our generously discounted graduated prices.

    Scope of delivery:
  • 1 x facade rivet with head lacquering in light grey (RAL 7035)

TIP: For large-head blind rivets, a blind riveting pliers or an electric (or pneumatic) riveting tool is required.

Properties of our facade rivets in light grey

The facade rivets have a scratch-resistant head coating in RAL 7035, the colour and gloss of which matches our HPL sheets in light grey. They can also be used for sheets from many other manufacturers whose surfaces are coloured light grey. However, it is possible that there may be very slight deviations in colour or gloss. The rivets are not only suitable for HPL sheets, but can also be used for many other plastic sheets that are to be riveted. The very light grey tone, for example, also goes very well with our silver aluminium composite panels.

Facade claddings are normally used outdoors to enhance the appearance of house walls or similar. UV and weathering resistance is therefore a prerequisite that the installation material must fulfil. Our facade rivets are a corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy which can be used without any problems for outdoor applications, but also indoors. Of course, the paint on the rivet head is also weatherproof and UV-resistant, so that the colour tone is retained for a long time even in strong sunlight.

WARNING: Aluminium blind rivets are not suitable if the substructure is made of a steel alloy. Therefore, our light grey aluminium facade rivets are only suitable for existing aluminium constructions, because different metals can cause contact corrosion, which can affect not only the appearance but also the durability of the rivet joint.

Technical data of the facade rivets in light grey

  • Hollow rivet diameter: 5,0mm
  • Hollow rivet length: 14mm, 16mm or 18mm
  • Head diameter: 16mm
  • Material head: Aluminium
  • Material rivet mandrel: Stainless steel
  • Material sleeve: Aluminium alloy AlMg3

We stock the light grey facade rivets in various sizes with different clamping ranges. When making your selection, make sure that the total thickness of the panels and the thickness of the substructure are within the clamping range. Otherwise a secure hold of the rivet cannot be guaranteed.

    Clamping area:
  • Facade rivet light grey 5x14mm: min. 5,5mm-max. 9,0mm
  • Facade rivet light grey 5x16mm: min. 7,0mm-max. 10,5mm
  • Facade rivet light grey 5x18mm: min. 9,0mm-max. 12,5mm

Fasten facade panels with light grey facade rivets

Riveting offers significant advantages over screwing. As soon as a blind rivet has been riveted, the rivet joint is immediately loadable and permanently secure, while screws could, in the worst case, loosen over time due to vibration and impact. In addition, riveted joints can also be made if assembly can only be carried out on one side and a securing cap nut cannot be fitted. Single-sided installation means that the rivet is inserted through the panel and substructure from the visible side of the cladding. To fasten the rivet, the stainless steel rivet mandrel is inserted into the nose piece and tightened until the required tightening torque causes the mandrel to break at the predetermined breaking point.

For blind rivets, a blind riveting tool with a mouthpiece matching the rivet is required. If the installation of facade panels is to be carried out without constraint, a special gauge mouthpiece is required for the sliding points, which is matched to the contour of the facade rivet. Special gauge mouthpieces are screwed into the riveting tool and set the required gap distance between the panel surface and the head of the rivet. The necessary gap is intended to prevent stresses from occurring in the event of thermal expansion of the assembled panel, so that it has sufficient room for expansion from the fixed point. Depending on the material of the facade panel, however, a different special gauge mouthpiece must be used, because both aluminium composite panels and HPL panels or fibre cement panels require different values for the gap distance.

    Matching mouthpieces
  • Special gauge mouthpiece type ALU-16: For aluminium composite panels (e.g. Aludibond, Alucobond, Alpolic, Alucom, etc.)
  • Special gauge mouthpiece type HPL-16: For HPL panels (incl. Trespa®, Kronoplan, Fundermax, Resopal, etc.)
  • Special gauge mouthpiece type HPL-16: For fibre cement boards (e.g. Eternit, Promat, Fermacell, etc.)

Facade rivets are not only suitable for facade cladding or balconies, even if the name suggests otherwise. The blind rivets with large head can be used for all fastenings where screw fastening is not desired or not possible. However, it must be ensured that the clamping range is not exceeded or undercut and that there is no contact with other metal alloys except aluminium. Even wooden panels can be securely fastened to an aluminium profile rail, for example to erect a garden fence made of wooden slats.

For riveting, drill holes are required through which the rivet can be inserted. A distinction must be made between whether a firm connection is to be made without play or whether a constraint-free installation is required. For drilling, we stock both ground HSS drills and solid carbide drills. For fixed connections, fixed points as well as the substructure, a drill in the size of the rivet should always be chosen. For aluminium and plastics we recommend our HSS drill with 5.1mm diameter. For HPL panels, the solid carbide drill in 6mm is most suitable. For sliding points for stress-free mounting, the drill holes in the panel are made larger. For HPL, drilling with our 8mm solid carbide drill is advisable. For aluminium composite panels an HSS drill with 8mm or 10mm is the perfect choice.

The listed brand names Trespa®, Kronoplan, Fundermax, Resopal, Aludibond, Alucobond, Alpolic, Alucom, Eternit, Promat and Fermacell are registered trademarks and serve only as examples for the usability of our facade rivets in light grey. Whether a facade approval is guaranteed for a panel from the respective manufacturer must be checked in each individual case.
