Aluminium Composite Panel Grey Ash 3mm – subtle wood look cut to size

The aluminium composite panel Grey Ash combines a light, understated wood look with the advantages of a lightweight, flat 3 mm composite panel. The decor shows a grey-tinted ash grain with fine light-dark gradients and has a slight texture along the grain, making the panel very similar to a real wood surface both visually and to the touch.

Unlike real wood, the surface remains closed, easy to maintain and dimensionally stable. It does not need to be regularly oiled, glazed or varnished and is therefore particularly suitable for outdoor surfaces where real wood surfaces can quickly become demanding due to moisture, UV radiation and regular aftercare. This is useful, for example, for privacy screen elements, balcony cladding, facade accents or cladding in protected entrance areas.

The grain of the Grey Ash decor always runs along the length that you specify in the configurator. Cutting is possible up to 2000 mm length and 1000 mm width. We cut your panel at our site in Kranenburg with millimetre precision according to your desired configuration.

Wood decor on the visible side, primer coating on the reverse side

The visible side shows the Grey Ash decor with light grey grain and a slight surface texture. For furniture cladding, caravans or caravan conversions, kitchen splashbacks or wall panels, the reverse side usually lies flat against the substrate and is therefore not visible. For this reason, it is already prepared for installation by bonding with a white primer coating. This creates a calm wood surface on the front, while the reverse side supports simple installation by bonding.

Note: The Grey Ash look is created by light grey tones, fine grain patterns and subtle colour gradients. Depending on the cut and the panel area, the grain and colour effect may vary slightly. With this decor, the grain always runs lengthwise along the cut-to-size panel. The actual surface can only be assessed reliably without the protective film. However, the protective film should only be removed completely after processing and installation.

The best alternative when a realistic wood look is required but real wood is too heavy or too maintenance-intensive.

In addition to rectangular cutting, drill holes, cut-outs and individual contours are also possible, for example for cable feed-throughs or sockets in caravan conversions, cut-outs for washbasins or shower fittings, or fixing points for facade and balcony cladding.

Processing & installation

The 3 mm thick aluminium composite panel in Grey Ash can be processed almost as easily as a comparably thin wooden board, but is significantly lighter and more rigid. This is ensured by the sandwich structure with a black PE core and aluminium cover layers on both sides. Sawing, milling and drilling are easily possible with suitable tools: for clean cut edges, a fine-toothed saw blade is recommended; drill holes can be made cleanly with an HSS drill bit. Before sawing, the grain direction should be checked so that the wood decor later runs in the desired direction.

Note: The protective film should only be removed completely after completion of processing and installation.

The aluminium composite panel Grey Ash can be installed by bonding, screwing or riveting, depending on the substrate and application. This allows the panel to be fixed both directly onto suitable wall surfaces and onto substructures made of wood or aluminium.

For full-surface bonding, a powerful MS polymer adhesive such as our Parabond 600 is a very good choice. The permanently elastic hybrid mounting adhesive adheres to most substrates commonly used in the construction sector, while the white primer-coated reverse side of the panel is already prepared for bonding. A clean, dust-free, as even as possible and load-bearing substrate is required.

Alternatively, the panel can be screwed directly or mounted on a substructure. For wooden substructures, our facade screws are suitable and are available in many colours, including brown. For aluminium substructures, facade rivets are the more suitable solution.
