Description

Rigid PVC sheets in dark grey - 100% Virgin material - Made in Germany

Our plastic sheets made of dark grey rigid PVC are similar to the colour RAL7011 (iron grey) and are available in thicknesses from 1,0mm – 50,0mm. Our PVC sheets in standard format have a length of 2000mm and a width of 1000mm. These are solid sheets made of rigid PVC (PVC-U), not rigid foam sheets with a foamed core made of 100% virgin material. The dark grey PVC sheets are manufactured in Germany and are free of toxic plasticisers. Like all our plastic sheets made of rigid PVC, the standard dark grey sheets are completely coloured through to ensure that the cut edges and the smooth surfaces on both sides have the same dark grey colour. The dark grey PVC sheets are supplied without protective film, so when processing the sheets, a little care should be taken to ensure that the smooth surfaces do not scratch.

Characteristics of our dark grey PVC sheets

Our dark grey rigid PVC is characterised in particular by its high rigidity and dimensional stability. These properties, which are typical for PVC, combined with its good chemical resistance, are particularly useful in the chemical industry for the construction of chemical plants and chemical containers. In addition, our PVC sheets in dark grey have very good electrical insulating properties and, depending on their thickness, the fire protection class according to DIN4102 B1 (flame-retardant), which is why rigid PVC is used especially in the electrical industry or in machine and apparatus construction.

The favourable price, as well as normal impact strength are further arguments for the use of our dark grey rigid PVC sheets.

Approvals for rigid PVC in dark grey

  • DIN 4102 B1 flame-retardant with thicknesses of 1mm - 4mm (General building authority test certificate)
  • UL94 V0 from a thickness of 1mm
  • NFP 92-501 M1 with thicknesses of 1mm - 3mm
  • BS476 class 1 for the thickness of 3mm

Standards for rigid PVC in dark grey

  • REACH (EU Chemicals regulation)
  • RoHS (Regulation banning hazardous substances in the electrical industry)
  • PAK (Directive on compliance with limit values for polyaromatic hydrocarbons)

Larger panel formats and colours are available on request.

Although our standard format of 2,0x1,0 metres is sufficient for most applications, it is also possible to supply our dark grey PVC sheets in larger formats measuring 3,0x1,5 metres on request. In addition, we also offer the hard PVC sheets in dark grey in the most common sizes also directly cut to size, so that you can order your PVC sheets conveniently online in the sizes you require. For cut-to-size sheets in thicknesses not offered in our online shop, you are welcome to send us a specific enquiry by email, stating the desired dimensions, the desired thickness and the required quantities. Our competent consulting team will immediately deal with your enquiry and provide you with your individual, low-priced offer.

We produce individual milled parts from dark grey rigid PVC according to your design drawing.

As for all plastics that we offer you in our online shop, our unique milling service also applies to our dark grey plastic sheets made of rigid PVC. This service enables us to create individual milled parts in almost any conceivable shape, or with holes and cut-outs. All information about our milling service can be found here.

Application examples for rigid PVC in dark grey

  • Glued over the entire surface with a digital print, our PVC sheets are often used in advertising technology
  • Thanks to its chemical resistance, dark grey PVC is used for the construction of chemical tanks
  • The electrical industry uses our dark grey rigid PVC sheets as insulation in apparatus and machine construction
  • Inexpensive PVC sheets are often used in the construction sector due to their high rigidity and dimensional stability
  • And much more

Processing of rigid PVC in dark grey

PVC sheets, like our dark grey rigid PVC sheets, can be machined by all common machining methods. Cutting by sawing or milling, as well as turning or drilling, does not require special machines and can be done with conventional woodworking tools. It should be noted, however, that a comparatively low speed should be set, as PVC burns relatively quickly and hydrochloric acid is produced, which can damage drills, saw blades and tools. When drilling PVC, simple liquid soap can be used as a coolant and lubricant to avoid burning the material.

Like all our PVC sheets, the dark grey rigid PVC sheets can be excellently thermoformed or thermoformed. The so-called thermoforming is common practice in the industrial production of finished parts made of rigid PVC.

In principle, our dark grey PVC sheets can be printed directly, but this makes relatively little sense due to the dark grey colour, as the printed image is hardly visible enough. In advertising technology, the inexpensive PVC sheets are therefore often covered with a large format print on a film and thus used as advertising signs or exhibition walls. Lettering with plotter film is also possible without any problems with the PVC sheets. Varnishing of our dark grey rigid PVC sheets is also possible, however, if the surface to be varnished has high demands on the varnish, it should be primed in advance with a primer as an adhesion promoter.

Welding PVC to each other is a widely used method of ensuring a durable and safe bond between rigid PVC and rigid PVC. You can find the suitable welding rod for welding our dark grey PVC sheets in our online shop. PVC can also be bonded very well with PVC and most other plastics (except PE, PP and PTFE). With our specially selected plastic adhesive Ruderer L530, bonding our dark grey PVC sheets is child's play. Our MS polymer Parabond 600 in grey, because it not only adheres to almost all surfaces, but also offers an enormous initial adhesion and a very high adhesive strength after curing.

TIP: PVC sheets should not be processed on CO² laser equipment, as the burning of PVC produces hydrochloric acid which immediately attacks all parts of the laser equipment. All metal parts of the system would rust immediately after contact with hydrochloric acid.
