The 6mm HSS-G drill is profile ground and made of high speed steel. The drill cutting edge on the outer diameter, the flute and the drill tip are ground with extraordinary precision. Due to the cross-grinding, the 6mm drill bit already cuts in the middle of the drill head. The properties of this HSS-G drill bit favour the self-centring drilling of our plastic panels and composite panels, for example, to use them as cladding panels or to mount them on the wall with our stainless steel screw caps.
The HSS-G drill is profile ground, manufactured with a 118 degree point angle and a normal spiral twist (type N). Overall, the twist drill is 93mm long and the usable spiral length is 57mm. The cylindrical shank is correspondingly 36mm long and the diameter here is also 6mm.
Compared to roll-rolled, lower-priced HSS-R drills, our 6mm drill is of significantly higher quality and can be used for longer. Due to the elaborate profile grinding, this twist drill is particularly noticeable for its high, long-lasting sharpness and ensures the precise machining of hard materials such as aluminium or brass.
NOTE: In case of damage to the tip or the drill spiral of our drill, the use of the product should be discontinued. Further use would result in the drill being of inferior quality.
When installing facade panels, fastening with fixed point and sliding point holes may be necessary. This procedure protects the facade cladding from weather-related deformation due to thermal expansion. Our 6mm drill bit is ideal for fixed point drilling of the panel, as well as all drilling of the substructures if these are to be attached with balcony screws appropriate to the size. Drilling HPL panels is perfectly possible with our 6mm drill, but can lead to premature wear of the material. Therefore, our solid carbide drills should preferably be used for HPL panels. Thanks to their special drill head geometry, they are also much more suitable for HPL in terms of the quality of the drill hole edges.
For wall claddings with plastic panels that are to be fixed directly to the wall without spacing, screw caps are popular for covering the screw head during assembly. For the 15mm stainless steel screw covers available in our online shop, the 6mm HSS-G drill bit can be ideally used. With this cover, the plate hole may have a maximum diameter of 10mm, as the hole would otherwise be too large and the hole would therefore no longer be completely covered. The 6mm drill is not suitable for our spacers in various sizes, as these require a hole of at least 8mm. Machining of materials such as graphite, steel, aluminium or bronze is easily possible with our 6mm HSS-R drill. With this common drill hole size, most panels, regardless of the material, can be very well connected or fixed together by screwing. Alternatively, partition or spit walls can also be set up and fixed with screws. When using the 6mm HSS-G drill, it should be noted that the speed of the machine should be adjusted to the hardness of the material. If the material is very hard, the speed should be reduced in order to reduce the heat generated at the hole. Special coolants or cutting oil can also help here and additionally support the high durability of the drill.
WARNING: The percussion drilling function of your drill should always be switched off when working with an HSS-G drill, as this is the only way to preserve the life of the drill and prevent damage.
