Paracryl DECO in white - Can be painted over without waiting time

Extremely low volume shrinkage ✓ Immediately paintable ✓ No cracking ✓

Our Paracryl DECO in white is a very popular acrylic sealant among painters and drywallers because, unlike conventional acrylic, Paracryl DECO can be painted over immediately after application. In the trades, waiting for sealants and touch-ups to dry means unnecessary costs, so the special acrylic is used to prepare walls and ceilings that are to be painted or wallpapered afterwards. The sealant is not only used to fill drill holes or stress cracks in drywall, but is also used to fill gaps between door frames, window frames or skirting boards and the wall.

The adhesion of the sealant is excellent on all typical materials found in the building sector, so that Paracryl DECO can be used without hesitation on wood, plaster, stone, clinker or chipboard. The acrylic also shows very good adhesion to window profiles made of rigid PVC, or end strips made of vinyl. An additional primer as an adhesion promoter is not required. It should be noted, however, that the materials are not subject to much movement, because Paracryl DECO has only a very low elasticity with a maximum permissible deformation of 7.5%. The acrylic is therefore not suitable for expansion joints.

Properties of Professional Acrylic Paracryl DECO White

Compared to our other acrylic sealants, the premium painter's acrylic Paracryl DECO has a lower density of 1.13g/ml and can therefore be applied very well as a gap-filling sealant even in fine cracks. The lower density is due to the low water content of the mixture, which evaporates during curing. This not only has the advantage that the volume loss typical of acrylic is reduced to a level that is hardly worth mentioning, but also that skin formation starts after only 15 minutes. For these reasons, Paracryl DECO can be painted over with any commercially available dispersion-based wall paint or varnish immediately after application and smoothing. The gloss level of the applied paint is not affected by the acrylic underneath, so that matt wall paints remain matt. Furthermore, no cracks occur within the paint layer due to the different drying times of the paint or varnish and the acrylic.

Paracryl DECO has low elasticity and is therefore not suitable for expansion joints or application areas that are subject to constant movement or expansion. It should be noted that the maximum deformation does not exceed 5% until the sealant has cured. Even after that, the maximum permissible deformation is 7.5%. However, for repairing surfaces by filling stress cracks in masonry, or levelling drilled holes or damaged areas in plastered surfaces, the low resistance to deformation is not a problem, because there is usually no significant movement load in walls, ceilings and walls. Paracryl DECO can also be used to fill gaps between door frames and walls, or between floor coverings and walls, as there is normally no mechanical stress here. However, acrylic is not the right choice for sealing the joints between skirting boards and the floor covering. Instead, a silicone such as our own brand alkoxy siliconesSILIKONprofi should be used.

Painter's acrylic is mainly used indoors due to its moderate UV resistance. To make this possible without hesitation, our Paracryl DECO is extremely low-emission and is classified with the best rating A+ according to the VOC emission class. The odourless sealant cures with almost no odour and is free of isocyanates or phthalates, so there is no risk to health when using it. It does not attack surfaces because our white painter's acrylic is also free of silicones or solvents. Because water evaporates during curing, it should not be used on metals at risk of corrosion, such as untreated iron or non-alloy steels. A painter's acrylic should also not be used on very sensitive materials such as natural stone or granite, in order to exclude edge discolouration on the surface.

Processing of the painter's acrylic Paracryl DECO in white

Acrylic is very easy to apply, because a conventional application gun is sufficient for applying the sealant, as is also used for silicone sealants. The surface on which the acrylic is to be applied should be cleaned beforehand, as dust and dirt build-up can have a negative effect on adhesion and the smoothing result. In addition, the surface should be thoroughly dried, because a freshly applied acrylic is water-soluble, so that the adhesion is reduced by damp or wet surfaces. Smoothing can be done with a finger, a joint scraper or a smoothing spatula. The use of special smoothing agents is not necessary, because the water-solubility of acrylic sealants has the advantage that conventional tap water can be used for smoothing. For this purpose, the surface and the tools used should be lightly moistened with water from a spray bottle.

Unlike most acrylic sealants, Paracryl DECO can be painted over immediately after application with all commercially available dispersion-based paints and varnishes. This makes the professional painter's acrylic ideal for repairing cracks and imperfections in plaster where painting should be done without long waiting times for the sealant to cure. The acrylic is also ideal for sealing joints between door frames and plaster, or roller shutter boxes indoors, as these are also usually followed by a coat of paint or wall covering with wallpaper.

Examples of use for Paracryl DECO in white

  • Paracryl DECO can be painted over immediately without having to wait for the sealant to dry
  • The professional painter's acrylic is ideal as a filler of small stress cracks with little movement play
  • The volume loss of Paracryl DECO during drying is very low compared to other painter's acrylics
  • The water-soluble painter's acrylic can be smoothed without special smoothing agents, e.g. with tap water
  • and much more

Paracryl DECO, unlike Paracryl EXTERIOR, is not UV-resistant. If the painter's acrylic is used outdoors, the joints and surfaces should be protected from UV radiation with a coat of paint after application. Acrylic is water-soluble in a pasty, uncured state. For this reason, the freshly applied sealant should be protected from rain and water contact.

CAUTION: Paracryl DECO is not suitable for applications with permanent water contact or persistent high humidity, because an acrylic is neither waterproof nor does it have mould-inhibiting properties, as is the case with our alkoxy silicones.
