Description

PE-UHMW (PE-1000) sheets in black - made from recycled material!

Recycled material ✓ Extremely abrasion-resistant ✓ Made in Germany

Our PE-HD-UHMW reclaimed sheets in black are available as standard sheets in thicknesses from 10mm to 80mm. The dimensions of our recycling sheets in standard format are 2000mm for the length and 1000mm for the width. The black sheets made of PE-1000 consist of 100% recycled material, which is sorted, collected and ground into regrind in order to produce new plastic sheets made of reclaimed material. The PE-UHMW sheets are solid sheets of solid core material and not rigid foam sheets with foamed polyethylene cores, which are completely dyed black throughout to ensure a consistent colour on the cut and milled edges as well as the surfaces. The surfaces of the panels made of recycled material are smooth and are supplied without protective film.

NOTE: Polyethylene is a technical plastic, therefore we advise against using our PE-UHMW recycled sheets in black for optical purposes.

Features of our PE1000 Regenerates in Black

PE-HD-UHMW made from recycled material, which is also called PE-UHMW reclaimed material or PE-1000 reclaimed material, consists of high-density polyethylene and has very long molecular chains, which results in a very high molecular weight. The average molecular weight of the plastic sheets made from recycled PE-UHMW is more than 9 million g/mol. and is thus comparable to that of PE-UHMW sheets made from virgin material. This results in a significantly more abrasion-resistant and harder surface, which not least has an effect on a long service life. Particularly in mechanical and plant engineering, the regenerates are therefore used for finished parts that are subject to high loads under permanent dynamic stress.

Sheets made of black PE-UHMW reclaimed material are significantly cheaper than PE-UHMW sheets made of virgin material and are therefore an excellent alternative, because the recycled sheets are also suitable for applications with high demands on dynamic loads even at very low temperatures. The impact and shock resistant PE-UHMW reclaimed material is characterised by its very good sliding properties and very high wear and abrasion resistance. The high-performance plastic made from recycled material owes these properties to the very high molecular density resulting from the very long molecular chains typical of PE-UHMW.

Like the plastic sheets made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene from virgin material, PE-UHMW regenerates are suitable for use at very low temperatures and stand out as extremely impact-resistant and stable even in areas of application at very low temperatures. This means that the recycled PE-UHMW sheets can also be used permanently in a temperature application range from -80°C to +80°C.

The black sheets made of recycled PE-UHMW have excellent resistance to many acids, alkalis and solvents, even in permanent contact with them, and have very good chemical resistance. The anti-adhesive properties allow very easy cleaning of the surfaces, so that the recycled sheets are very often used in concrete construction for the production of precast concrete parts or in vehicle construction as linings for vehicle superstructures. PE-UHMW absorbs practically no moisture. This property is particularly exploited in the chemical industry when it comes to applications involving chemicals that react to water.

The black recycled sheets made of PE-UHMW (PE-1000) are, in contrast to the PE-UHMW sheets made of virgin material, not approved for contact with food, as they are neither considered physiologically safe nor do they meet the requirements for food conformity according to FDA or EU standard 10/2011.

Differences between PE-UHMW and PE-UHMW Regenerate

Even though the black PE-UHMW sheets from virgin material and the sheets from recycled material are the same plastic, there are a few differences that should not go unmentioned. For example, the cheaper PE-UHMW regenerates have a higher surface hardness with a Shore hardness of 65. PE-UHMW sheets made from virgin material, on the other hand, only have a Shore hardness of 60. This has a particular effect on the impact and shock resistance of the plastic sheets, which leads to a longer service life. However, the lowest possible temperature at which the recycled sheets can be used is only -80°C, whereas the temperature range of PE-1000 made from virgin material extends from extremely low -260°C to +80°C. In addition, the black PE-UHMW recycled material is not food grade and therefore not approved for applications in contact with food. The reason for this lies in possible contamination by foreign substances that may be contained in the recycling plates, because even if they are made from pure recycled material, it can never be 100% guaranteed that no foreign plastics are contained in the regrind, despite the greatest care during recycling. Such possible impurities can also have a slight effect on the appearance of the surface.

On request, we can supply you with other thicknesses and formats of our PE-UHMW (PE-1000) regenerated sheets in black.

Our standard delivery programme for the black plastic sheets made of recycled PE-UHMW covers the most common thicknesses and the most common format with dimensions of 2000mm length and 1000mm width, so that almost all applications are possible. However, if you require other thicknesses, or larger sheet sizes of 3000mmx1250mm, please feel free to email us with all the necessary details. This also applies if you need cuttings from our black PE-UHMW (PE-1000) regenerates. Our friendly sales staff will deal with your enquiry as quickly as possible and send you a quotation according to your specifications, including shipping costs.

We create your milled parts as a prototype or in series production from black PE-UHMW regenerate.

We can easily produce individual milled parts as prototypes or in series production from our black polyethylene recycling sheets thanks to our modern CNC milling centres. Especially for the production of machine parts, such as plain bearings, chain guides or gear wheels, from the durable and wear-resistant PE-1000 regenerates, we can assist you with our milling service. All information about our milling service can be found here.

Processing of PE-UHMW (PE-1000) regenerate in black

Polyethylene, as well as the black plastic sheets made of PE-UHMW Regenerate, can be processed very easily by cutting methods such as sawing, milling or drilling. Punching, CO2 lasering or water jet cutting are also common processing techniques used for the recycled sheets. PE-UHMW can also be riveted or screwed in order to easily create connections between the reclaimed sheets or with other materials.

Due to the high polymer chain length, PE-UHMW can no longer be thermally processed, which means that the black recycling sheets made of PE-UHMW (PE-1000) cannot be used for the production of finished plastic parts using the thermoforming process. Thermoforming is also not possible with the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. Only cold forming is a possibility to produce moulded parts from recycled PE-UHMW.

Polyethylene cannot be glued due to its excellent resistance to chemicals such as many acids, alkalis and solvents. This also applies to our black recycled sheets made of PE-UHMW (PE-1000) regenerates. However, in our online shop we carry the 2-component adhesive S-Polybond PEprofi, a special adhesive from our own brand S-Polybond, which is suitable for bonding polyethylene, as it was specially developed for such difficult-to-bond plastics. However, painting, printing, laminating or labelling with a film is impossible due to the chemical resistance of the PE-UHMW Regenerat sheets, as neither paints, varnishes nor films adhere to the surface.

Our recycling sheets made of black PE-UHMW (PE-1000) can be welded, but this is hardly ever used, as this plastic is primarily used for machine components, which are usually made from one piece, due to its long service life and very good sliding properties.

NOTE: As an engineering plastic, our PE-UHMW recycling sheets are only suitable for optical purposes to a limited extent and are supplied without a protective film.
