Polypropylene sheets (PP) in custom cut

Polypropylene sheets (PP-H) are highly impact resistant and have a hard surface. Our PP sheets are solid-core and solid-coloured sheets which comply with the European Union RoHS guidelines.

Your advantages with our Polypropylene sheets
  1. PP sheets can continuously withstand temperatures of up to +110°C, for a short time even up to +140°C
  2. PP sheets are highly resistant against chemicals
  3. PP sheets are food compliant and drinking water certified

Polypropylene plastic sheets inexpensively online cut to size

Our PP-H sheets are made of virgin material in Germany and comply with the REACH and RoHS regulations. Of course, we also deliver our PP sheets after cutting exactly to your measurements. You can easily calculate your measurements online in our shop and order them easily.

What is Polypropylene?

Polypropylene is abbreviated as PP. This is a thermoplastic, semi-crystalline plastic which consists only of hydrocarbon. The manufacturing is carried out by a catalyzed polymerization.

In its natural form, this plastic is white to milky cloudy due to the crystallites, but there are also special nucleated types in transparent. Transparent polypropylene has not been widely known so far.

There are several forms of polypropylene plastics available in the market:

  1. PP-H (Homopolymer)
  2. PP-C (Copolymer mostly with PE)
  3. nucleated types in transpartent

Physical properties of polypropylene

The most important properties of PP are relatively high temperature resistance and excellent chemical resistance. Polypropylene can be used at temperatures of 110°C under continuous load, in the short term even up to 140°C.

Furthermore, polypropylene is characterized by its long service life, good impact resistance and high surface hardness. Polypropylene also has an electrically insulating effect.

How is polypropylene processed?

In most cases, the semi-finished products from PP have to be processed further. Processing by machining processes such as sawing, drilling, turning or milling is not a big challenge. Just make sure that the feeds are high and the rotation frequencies are low to avoid material burning.

Thermoforming of polypropylene

The thermoforming of polypropylene is not easy. Since PP is a semi-crystalline plastic, the thermal processing window of the material is very low. For this reason, attention must be paid to temperature control and, above all, very good cooling.

PP crystallizes partly for 30 days after thermoforming and can therefore still shrink considerably. As the shrinkage progresses, the parts made of PP become severely distorted. It is recommended to use tempered tools for the deformation of PP.

Welding Polypropylene

Polypropylene can be welded very well, but you should also pay attention to the temperature and especially the heating time, because PP can burn very quickly during welding. The already decomposed layer can adversely affect the welding result.

Glue Polypropylene

At this point it must be mentioned that polypropylene is not easy to glue. Normal, commercially known adhesives fail to stick PP – actually all of them.

Recently, new types of adhesives have become available on the market that allow bonding polypropylene. In our shop we exclusively offer you a special PP glue S-Polybond PPprofi.

Milled parts made of PP plastic:

In addition to our PP sheets in millimeter precision cut to your desired size, we also offer you milled parts according to your design drawing, regardless of whether it is a single copy, a prototype or a series production.

At our modern CNC milling centers, we can mill polypropylene plastic sheets up to a size of 4,0 x 2,0 meters exactly to your specifications. We focus on reliability, accuracy and the highest quality.

In order to provide you with a tailor-made quotation for the production of milled parts, we only need information on the quantity per delivery, as well as a drawing or design data. We can process the following formats: DXF, DWG, STEP or IGES. Furthermore, we are able to convert AI and EPS-files.
