Aqua-Plus PP-R socket - For connecting two pipes with the same diameter

Various sizes ✓ Up to +95°C water temperature ✓ DVGW certified ✓

Our Aqua-Plus PP-R couplings made of high-quality polypropylene random copolymer are available in the same diameters as our white plastic pipes made of PP-R and are used to join two sections with identical pipe diameters. In order not to obstruct the flow of the pipes and to always ensure the ideal insertion depth, the couplings are arranged in three segments. The two outer segments have the outer diameter of the corresponding pipe in the inner diameter, the depth of which corresponds exactly to the required insertion depth. The middle segment, on the other hand, is adapted to the inner diameter of the corresponding pipe, so that after welding an almost seamless transition from one pipe to the other is ensured.

Our PP-R sleeves can be ordered in any quantity as required - even individual sleeves.

Properties of the white PP-R sleeve

Our PP-R joints are high-quality connectors for pipes made of the same plastic and are manufactured under constant, strict controls in the EU (Greece). As with the pipes, the joints are approved for drinking water supply lines, which is certified by the DVGW. With a maximum permissible operating temperature of +95°C (even 110°C for short periods), the joints can be used equally for pipe connections of hot and cold water pipes and can also be used for the installation of heating pipes, for the construction of geothermal plants or in air-conditioning technology.

The special feature of the PP-R sockets is that they do not have a continuous diameter corresponding to the outer diameter of the pipe, as many other sockets available on the market do, but contain a reduced diameter in the middle over a segment. This segment corresponds exactly to the inner diameter of the pipe, which ensures unhindered flow without the softened plastic forming a melt. In addition, the middle section limits the insertion depth to the optimum dimension. So there is no danger of the pipe being inserted too deeply into the socket on one side.

Of course, the sleeves are also approved for contact with foodstuffs and have the very good chemical resistance typical of polypropylene, so that no restrictions arise from the use of the sleeves.

Processing of Aqua-Plus PP-R joints in white

In order to be able to process the white PP-R couplings, PP-R pipes with the corresponding diameter are required, which are inserted into the coupling after heating in order to create a permanently tight welded joint. Since the socket is a connecting element for two sections with identical diameters, the two pipe elements must also correspond to the specified diameter of the socket. For pipes with a diameter of 20mm, a socket of size DN20 is the right choice.

Overview of socket sizes

  • PP-R socket DN20: both sides PP-R pipe with Ø outside 20mm (Ø inside 13.2mm)
  • PP-R socket DN25: both sides PP-R pipe with Ø outside 25mm (Ø inside 16.6mm)
  • PP-R socket DN32: both sides PP-R pipe with Ø outside 32mm (Ø inside 21.2mm)
  • PP-R socket DN40: both sides PP-R pipe with Ø outside 40mm (Ø inside 26.6mm)

For a welded joint, both the pipe and the socket are heated simultaneously. For this purpose, the pipe is inserted into the heating socket of the welding device and the PP-R socket is placed on the corresponding heating mandrel. After the heating period, which is to be selected according to the pipe diameter, has expired, the pipe must be inserted into the socket immediately. The pipe should be inserted straight into the socket with a maximum axial deviation of 3 degrees until the required insertion depth is reached. The pipe must not be turned. After joining the pipe and socket, the welded joint must rest to ensure the fusion of the two components when cooling. The cooling time depends on the pipe diameter and varies from at least 2 minutes to at least 4 minutes.

Because each pipe requires different heating times, insertion depths and rest periods, we have prepared separate data sheets for each pipe diameter with instructions for welding. These data sheets also contain easy-to-understand information on maximum installation distances and installation methods, as well as information on temperature-dependent pressure resistance and thermal expansion. The data sheets can be downloaded from the product page for our white Aqua-Plus PP-R pipescan be viewed and downloaded in the data sheets tab.

WARNING: The pipes cannot be inserted into the socket without heating, as the diameter of the socket is somewhat smaller due to its design. Only after the two elements have been sufficiently heated can they be inserted into each other. This is not a production defect and is absolutely necessary to achieve a watertight and pressure-tight welded joint.
