Balcony screw M5 in light grey (RAL7035)

Stainless steel ✓ Thread in 20mm, 25mm and 30mm length ✓ From 1 screw ✓

The balcony screw in light grey is available in the sizes M5x20mm, M5x25mm and M5x30mm as a single screw without further accessories. These are made of solid stainless steel. This is high quality A2 steel, which is characterised by very good corrosion resistance, which is an important feature for balcony screws, which are mainly used for outdoor applications. The large screw head is precisely matched to the decor of our HPL panels with a robust powder coating in light grey. This is also UV and weather resistant. The head diameter of 16mm fulfils the purpose of ensuring that even the large sliding point holes of Ø 8mm or Ø 10mm are always completely covered when HPL is installed without constraint.

NOTE: The head painted threaded screws are available in light grey in thread lengths of 20mm, 25mm and 30mm with a thread diameter of size M5. As a balcony screw, these are perfectly suitable for our stainless steel cap nuts in high design, as well as for our threaded sleeves, which we stock in various colours. Basically, thanks to the M5 thread, the screw can be used with any commercially available nut in the corresponding size.

The balcony screws in light grey are exactly the same screws that we also offer in complete sets with cap nut or threaded sleeve, with the essential difference that with the loose screws, all accessories for fastening are dispensed with, and only the screws are supplied in the selected size and quantity. It is not always intended to mount balcony cladding or to fasten sheet material to square steel tubes. Washers, spacers or cap nuts are therefore not always needed either, so it is cheaper and more sustainable not to order assembly accessories that are not needed in the first place. Alternatively, we also offer each component of the balcony screw sets individually at favourable graduated prices, so that you can put together the perfect fastening solution for your application yourself.

Features of the stainless steel balcony screw in light grey

In keeping with their name, balcony screws are usually used to mount balcony surrounds and are therefore exposed to all weather conditions. If you do not want to renew the fixings regularly because the screws rust and, in the worst case, also impair the appearance of the panel material, you should choose a suitable alloy when buying the screws. Hot-dip galvanised steel is not sufficiently protected against corrosion. Only high-quality stainless steel will help here. For our balcony threaded screws with light grey head coating, as for all others, we use A2 steel without exception, because this is a rust-free steel alloy.

The light grey balcony screws, which we offer in the various thread lengths as loose screws, all have a thread in the metric size M5. The total length of the screws is calculated from the thread length and the screw head, which must be added with a 2mm thickness. The outer diameter of the head is 16mm and, as is usual for screws, includes the drive for tightening the balcony screws. For the threaded screws, we use a modern Torx key in size T20. The screw head is lacquered on the upper side and slightly lenticular, so that there is an almost seamless transition from the surface to the edge of the screw, which makes cleaning the surfaces much easier. The underside of the head, on the other hand, is flat and has a generous bearing surface so that the screws do not pull into the material, even with softer materials, and ensure a secure hold of the panel with heavy panels, such as HPL.

The lacquer finish of the screw head in light grey corresponds to the RAL colour RAL7035. This makes the screws ideal for our HPL blanks in light grey. The gloss level of the silk-matt head lacquer is also matched to the decorative surface of the HPL, but is also perfectly suitable for our silver aluminium composite panels or many other materials whose colour is similar to RAL7035. Light grey is very light and, like white surfaces, tends to yellow if sufficient UV resistance is not provided. To counteract this, we use special lacquers for the robust powder coating, which are characterised by very good UV and weather resistance, in order to be able to ensure a maximum service life of the balcony screws without visual restrictions.

NOTE: The length of a screw gives a rough idea of how thick the entire material to be fastened can be. However, the so-called clamping range varies considerably depending on the type of screw connection used. With threaded sleeves, the clamping range increases by 1 mm to 5 mm because they are inserted into the square profile or the material surface, whereas nuts and cap nuts are screwed onto the thread from the outside. In this case, the clamping range is reduced. If washers, spacers or spring washers are also used, their respective thickness must also be deducted from the clamping range of the screw.

Application examples for light grey balcony screws

One of the typical applications of light grey screws is the installation of fall devices using HPL panels in light grey on balconies, roof terraces and in staircases. As a rule, this requires additional mounting material to ensure that the fastening is permanent and secure. For this reason, we also offer the screws as a complete set with cap nut and poly washer, which are primarily suitable for screwing flat steel profiles. For square tubes made of stainless steel, which are also very common, the balcony screw sets with threaded sleeve are an excellent choice. In rare cases, carelessness can damage the light grey head lacquer. Sharp cleaners, abrasive cleaners and hard cleaning sponges can also visually damage the paintwork, so we offer an inexpensive replacement in the form of loose screws.

Light grey is also a very popular colour in interior design, because it is less susceptible to dirt than white and yet very light, so that the room is not unnecessarily darkened. Examples include wall cladding, furniture and privacy screens in offices and public buildings. In mechanical engineering, the light grey is also frequently encountered and so we use these threaded screws for the safety fence to protect our employees around our saw-storage combination.
