Balcony screws with threaded sleeve in pure white

Made of A2 steel (stainless) ✓ Suitable for square profiles ✓ From 1 piece ✓

The balcony screw set made of stainless steel in pure white (RAL 9010) with threaded sleeve consists of an M5 balcony screw with white screw head, an M5 threaded sleeve, which is optionally available painted white or without paint, and a spacer made of grey polyethylene. The head of the screws and threaded sleeves are equipped with a modern hexagon socket drive - also known as a Torx drive - in the size ISR20 (T20), which allows effortless screwing without the risk of slipping out of the drive or turning it round. The head shape is flat and slightly lenticular. For the best possible protection against corrosion, which is very important when used as fasteners for balcony cladding outdoors, the screws and threaded sleeves are made of A2 stainless steel. This makes the screws in pure white ideal for the long-lasting, low-maintenance installation of white HPL panels on balcony and stair railings for fall protection.

NOTE: The white balcony screws with threaded sleeve are available with 20mm, 25mm or 30mm thread length. The threaded sleeve into which the screw is screwed increases the clamping range by 1mm to 5mm, depending on the screw-in depth, so that a 25mm screw has a clamping range of 26mm to 30mm.

The white balcony screws with threaded sleeve have the advantage that, depending on the selection, they are provided with a head lacquer in pure white on both sides. In addition, the screw head is very flat on both sides at approx. 2mm, so that the threaded sleeve does not protrude as far as a cap nut, which, on the other hand, is ideal for thin profile thicknesses. Both the screw and the sleeve have a modern ISR drive, also known as a Torx drive. This means that two screwdrivers or bits of size T20 are needed to screw in the screw.

Features of the Balcony Screw Set with Threaded Sleeve in Pure White

Anyone who clads a balcony railing has the goal of maintaining them for a few years with as little effort as possible. Here, the choice of fasteners also plays an important role, because these must permanently withstand the influences of sun, wind and rain. With the balcony screws with M5 thread in pure white and matching painted or unpainted threaded sleeves, you are on the safe side, because these are all made of high-quality A2 steel. This is a stainless steel that is characterised by very good corrosion resistance and can therefore be used without hesitation both indoors and outdoors. The independent loosening of balcony screws is also one of the factors that can drive up the costs for maintenance and servicing. Here, too, we play it safe and use a special thread adhesive that is applied to the internal thread of the threaded sleeve. This consists of two components that are mixed together when the screw is screwed in. In the process, tiny glass beads burst, which contain the hardener and thus initiate the chemical hardening. Once hardened, it is almost impossible for the balcony screw to be loosened from the threaded sleeve by vibrations, impacts and shocks. This connection can only be loosened again with suitable screwdrivers and a great deal of force.

If you do not use UV-resistant white paint outdoors, it can turn yellow after a relatively short time. To prevent this from happening to the head coating of our balcony screws and threaded sleeves, we use a high-quality powder coating with a colour that is characterised by very good UV and weather resistance. This means that the balcony edging, for which the screws are mainly used, will remain beautiful for years. The white corresponds to the pure white surface of our HPL panels in RAL 9010, whose silky matt surface gloss is also reflected in the head lacquer of the screw.

Panel material made of HPL or Alu-Dibond is often used for balcony edgings. This requires a constraint-free installation, which presupposes an unhindered expansion of the panels. To ensure this, the balcony screw set with threaded sleeve includes a spacer washer made of polyethylene. This plastic has excellent sliding properties. In addition, the spacer sleeve, which is inserted between the panel and the square profile, dampens vibrations very well and reduces shocks.

NOTE: Both the screw and the threaded sleeve are made of stainless steel and are therefore perfectly suited for mounting HPL panels on stainless steel balcony railings. In the case of aluminium railings, however, the contact between the two metals can promote corrosion, although aluminium and A2 stainless steel are very corrosion-resistant metal alloys.

Use of balcony screws with threaded sleeve

The balcony screws with threaded sleeve in pure white are a wonderful alternative to fixing white panels with a painted screw and cap nut and allow tone-on-tone mounting of white panels on white painted steel profiles. The grey polyethylene spacer sleeve is inserted between the panel and the railing. The slats provide good clamping without falling out within the profile hole. The threaded screw, which is inserted through the holes from the panel side, is screwed into the thread of the threaded sleeve on the opposite side. Due to the straight, supported screw guide of the spacer sleeve, this is very easy, but requires two screwdrivers with a suitable bit in size ISR20 (Torx t20), because without fixing the threaded sleeve against turning, the screw cannot be screwed in far enough. This is due to the blue two-component adhesive applied to the internal thread of the sleeve, which is necessary so that the screws cannot loosen on their own after the adhesive has hardened.

The profile to which the panels are to be attached should have a square or rectangular cross-section. Furthermore, it is necessary that the profile is at least 18mm deep so that both the threaded sleeve by 12mm and the spacer sleeve by 5mm can be inserted into the corresponding holes. Due to the outer diameter of the spacer washer of 21mm, a profile width of more than 21mm is recommended, but this is purely optical, so that the profile completely covers the grey plastic washer. This should be replaced by another washer with good vibration damping and sliding properties. With our self-adhesive poly washers, the minimum depth of the square profile could thus be reduced to 12mm, but then the drill hole of the profile towards the mounting side must also be adapted to the conditions. A Ø 8.5mm drill bit is too large at this point and should be reduced to Ø 5.5mm for the M5 balcony screws. The side where the threaded sleeve is inserted, on the other hand, must still be drilled with a drill with a nominal diameter of 8.5mm.

Depending on which panel material is to be fastened with the balcony screw, HSS drill bits or HSS drill bits and solid carbide drill bits are required. For Alu-Cobond®, Alu-Dibond® or other aluminium composite panels, HSS drills with 8.5mm and 5.5mm diameters are sufficient, whereby the smaller drill is only required for the panel hole of the fixed point attachment. The Metal drill in Ø 8,5mm can be used for all other holes in the panels as well as for drilling through the square profile. Drilling HPL panels, for example Trespa® Meteon® can certainly be done with an HSS drill, but such drills tend to chip off the decor at the edge of the drill hole. With a HPL drill made of solid carbide, which have a specially adapted drill head geometry, the risk of edge chipping is significantly lower. Here, too, a distinction must be made between fixed and sliding point fastening. The fixed point is drilled with Ø 6.0mm for an HPL panel. The remaining holes as sliding points, on the other hand, require a little more clearance, so a drill with an 8mm diameter should be chosen here. The holes in the square profile are also drilled with Ø 8.5mm for HPL.

The neutral, silky white of the lacquered screw heads matches almost any white furniture. This can be the coveted PAX wardrobe from IKEA® or the white interior of fitted kitchens. With the balcony screws with threaded sleeve, the individual cupboards and shelves can be unobtrusively screwed together so that they are permanently, firmly and securely connected to each other and do not move apart if something is pulled too hard on the doors.
