The threaded sleeve with a robust head lacquer finish in pure white (RAL 9010) is suitable for all indoor and outdoor applications without hesitation. This is made possible by the solid production from A2 steel. This is a stainless steel with very good corrosion resistance. The white powder coating of the sleeve head is also UV and weather resistant, so that weather influences do not cause any colour changes. The internal thread in size M5 has a depth of 12mm and holds all M5 threaded screws. The flat screw head with a height of only 2mm is round and slightly lenticular. The diameter is 14mm and has a Torx drive in size T20. The sleeve itself, which is inserted into the hole, has an outer diameter of 8mm and an insertion depth of 12mm. A special thread adhesive is applied to the thread for a secure screw connection.
NOTE: Even though the threaded sleeve is painted pure white, and thus perfectly matches the pure white balcony screw, the sleeve can be used with all our balcony screws. In addition, the threaded sleeves can also be combined with all other threaded screws with an M5 thread, regardless of how long it is or what shape the screw head is.
As the thread for the screw is located in the sleeve, which is fully inserted into the hole provided for this purpose, a very small protrusion of the screw fastening is possible. On the one hand, this facilitates the cleaning of surfaces and on the other hand, it is visually less noticeable than the usual fastening with washer and nut. The head lacquering in pure white can further enhance the appearance, especially if the surface in which the sleeve is inserted is also white.
Stainless steel in an A2 steel alloy is ideal for outdoor use because it does not rust and defies all weather conditions. That is why we use this alloy or an A4 steel for all our screws and threaded sleeves. A threaded sleeve, which basically consists of two components but is made from one solid piece of steel, has a sleeve with an M5 internal thread. The outer diameter of our white sleeves is 8mm. The depth of the sleeve is 12mm, which also corresponds to the thread depth. The flat head with a thickness of 2mm and an outer diameter has a Torx drive, so that the threaded sleeve can be tightened with a T20 Torx wrench or bit insert can be used to prevent the screw from turning. This is also necessary because the thread adhesive on the internal thread, which causes a minimal narrowing of the thread, makes the screw a little more difficult to screw in.
The powder coating of the pure white screws is robust and scratch-resistant. In addition, we only use UV- and weather-resistant paints for our screws, rivets and threaded sleeves, because insufficient UV resistance can result in yellowing, especially with white head paints. Because threaded sleeves are usually used with our balcony screws for mounting balcony edgings on square steel tubes, weather resistance is of great importance. The screws, whose colour according to RAL-K5-Classic corresponds to the colour code RAL9010 (pure white), have a silky-matt gloss level, which is very common for cladding panels made of HPL or aluminium composite material, so that the threaded sleeves are suitable for countless areas of application both indoors and outdoors.
The appearance and quality of a screw, threaded sleeve or cap nut is not unimportant, but in direct comparison to the durability and safety of the screw connection, these aspects only play a subordinate role. For this reason, we use a special thread locker with our threaded sleeves, which consists of two components. The blue adhesive, which is clearly visible on the thread, and tiny little beads containing the hardener. As soon as the threaded screw is screwed into the thread, these glass beads burst and the hardener is mixed with the adhesive. The chemical reaction between the screw and the threaded sleeve creates a firm connection that cannot loosen or become loose on its own due to weathering or mechanical stress.
NOTE: In some areas of application, good screw retention is very important. This is ensured with the threaded sleeves by a thread adhesive. If the threaded sleeve becomes loose, it must be replaced with a new one. Alternatively, a screw locking varnish can be used to renew the locking against independent loosening of the screw connection.
The threaded sleeve is primarily used for fastening sheet material to square steel tubes, which are usually Balcony screw set with threaded sleeve in pure white. If such a screw connection is loosened for any reason, the screw locking is no longer guaranteed, as the chemical hardening can only be set in motion once. This is where the individual threaded sleeves come into play as a replacement, but they can also be combined as desired with other balcony screws in any colour and length. Even completely different screws are conceivable, as long as the thread of the screw fits. The prerequisite for using a threaded sleeve is that it can be inserted 12mm deep into the profile or surface. This requires a sufficiently deep hole with an 8.5mm drill bit, which must be matched to the corresponding material. This is the only way to ensure that the flat head lies flush on the surface and that a firm screw connection can be made.
The pure white threaded sleeve is sometimes the most versatile in terms of colouring. White always goes and so built-in cabinets of a kitchen unit are usually white on the inside. Even the well-known shelves and cupboard systems of a popular Swedish furniture store, if white carcasses are chosen, are extremely similar to the RAL colour 9010, so that they can be connected wonderfully without gaps with the help of our threaded sleeves and the matching balcony screws. In addition, white plastic panels, for example made of opaque acrylic glass or aluminium composite material, can also be installed as side wall cladding for patio roofs and pergolas in no time at all. Due to the head lacquering of our sleeves and screws, this is hardly noticeable visually.
