Our S-Polylight LED SmartHome Controller DR-HOME36W with electronic dimmer and integrated Wi-Fi module is ideal for individually expanding existing lighting sets with a SmartHome controller, for example to control the compact recessed spotlights in different groups or to enhance the range of functions of existing sets with a controller without SmartHome functionality by replacing the controller. Thanks to identical plug connections, this can be done in just a few simple steps. The permanently wired hub is suitable for connecting 4 to 12 LED spots of type DR-SP3W with an individual output of 3 watts. The electronically regulated transformer with a variable input voltage of 85 volts to 265 volts AC provides an output voltage of 12 volts DC with an output of 12 watts when four LEDs are connected, up to a maximum output of 36 watts when fully equipped with 12 LED spots.

To make full use of the LED SmartHome Controller and the wireless remote control, a smartphone, an app with Tuya connectivity and a Wi-Fi signal are required, via which the LED lighting can later be controlled. The wireless remote control included in the scope of delivery enables convenient operation of the lighting, allowing it to be switched on and off and the brightness of the connected recessed spotlights to be adjusted as desired. Thanks to the integrated Wi-Fi module, control via smartphone is possible at any time and from anywhere in the world. With additional SmartHome devices or functions within the Tuya app, timers, switch-on and switch-off times as well as links with brightness sensors or cameras with motion detection are also possible.

Features of the DR-HOME36W LED SmartHome Controller

The LED SmartHome Controller consists of two main components: the hub and the power supply unit. In addition to the Wi-Fi module, the latter contains the electronically regulated transformer which, with a variable input voltage of 85 volts to 265 volts AC, ensures a constant output voltage of 12 volts (DC) for supplying power to the recessed spotlights. Connection is made via a mains cable with Euro plug, which is simply plugged into the socket. Both the 90cm mains cable and the connection cable to the hub are permanently connected to the controller. The enclosed PVC housing complies with protection class IP44. This means that it is protected against the ingress of small foreign objects as well as against splashing water. This allows it to be used in combination with our outdoor LED spots in protected outdoor areas, for example as patio roof lighting. Thanks to its comparatively compact dimensions, the controller can be easily stored in cavities, such as inside a wall connection profile, to ensure invisible wiring of the lighting. The white housing has a length of 187mm, a width of 40mm and a height of 25mm.

A separate HUB is used to connect the LED recessed spots and has six connections on each side for accommodating the 2-pin plugs of our DR-SP3W LED spots. The hub is connected to the SmartHome Controller via a permanently wired connection cable. The compact housing of the hub, with a width of 70mm, a height of 25mm and a depth of 33mm, also helps ensure that wiring is possible even in confined spaces and can therefore be easily concealed in small cavities.

TIP: Thanks to identical connections, the DR-HOME36W LED SmartHome Controller can be exchanged one-to-one for an existing DR-CON36W LED Power Controller to add SmartHome functions to the lighting system. Please note that in this case the controller must be connected to the Wi-Fi network as described below. The black remote control of the standard controller without Wi-Fi module also cannot be used to control the SmartHome-compatible controller.

The scope of delivery includes a 4-channel wireless remote control. It is suitable for dimming and switching up to four separate lighting groups on and off. Thanks to the wireless connection, the remote control works without direct line of sight to the receiving SmartHome Controller, even if the lighting is installed in another room. This allows the lighting to be controlled from any position. The attractive white ABS plastic housing features pleasantly soft rubberised buttons. On the rear is the battery compartment cover, which holds the two 1.5V AAA batteries required to operate the remote control. These are not included in the scope of delivery.

ATTENTION: The controller is suitable exclusively for our dimmable DR-SP3W LED recessed spots with an individual output of 3 watts, which we offer in various housing colours.

Connection and use of the smart LED control unit

The S-Polylight LED SmartHome Controller is connected to the individual LED spots using simple plug connectors. No tools are required for connection. The HUB provides six connections on each side into which the small white plugs of the connection cables are inserted. These are designed so that the plug can only be inserted in one direction. Incorrect polarity of the 12 volt DC power supply is therefore excluded. Once the wiring is complete, pairing with the smartphone and the 4-channel wireless remote control can be carried out. If you have not already done so, insert two AAA batteries (1.5 volt micro) into the remote control and keep it close at hand, as pairing takes place immediately after integration into the Wi-Fi network using a Tuya-based app.

Pairing with the smartphone
If required, download an app for managing SmartHome-compatible devices to your smartphone and create an account if necessary. We recommend the free Smart Life app from the developer Volcano Technologies Limited (available for Android™ and iOS™), as this app is very easy to use, is regularly updated and, due to its widespread use, can also be linked via so-called skills to the most common voice assistant systems¹, e.g. Alexa™ or Google™ Home. However, there are also countless other providers offering apps with Tuya connectivity. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the app.

Now put the LED SmartHome Controller into pairing mode by interrupting the power supply 5 times in succession by unplugging and reinserting the mains plug. The connected LED spots indicate that pairing mode has been reached by flashing. Now start the app and click on "+" or "Add device" and then select the appropriate device category "Lamp". Then select the automatic connection mode. You will now be prompted to connect to the Wi-Fi network. To do this, select the corresponding Wi-Fi signal from the list of available Wi-Fi networks and enter the associated password. The SmartHome Controller will now be searched for and automatically connected to the Smart Life app. Depending on the app, the individual steps may vary. However, they are usually very similar. If in doubt, read the app's instructions for use or ask the operator/developer.

Pairing with the remote control
As long as the LED SmartHome Controller is still in pairing mode, the wireless remote control can be connected to the controller. For this, the controller must already be integrated into the Wi-Fi network via the Smart Life app (or a comparable SmartHome app using Tuya technology). To pair the remote control, one of the 4 channel buttons (1, 2, 3 or 4) must be pressed and briefly held until the LED spots light up brightly for a short time. All spots connected to the controller via the HUB can now be switched on, dimmed and switched off using the corresponding button. The on/off button on the remote control switches all paired controllers on and off simultaneously, regardless of which channel they are assigned to.

NOTE: If more than 12 recessed spotlights are used, or several separate SmartHome Controllers are used and all are to be controlled simultaneously with one wireless remote control, this is possible by pairing all desired controllers one after another with the smartphone via the Smart Life app and then, while the respective controller is still in pairing mode, linking it to a channel on the remote control. In this way, it is possible both to control several controllers simultaneously on one channel and to operate up to four different groups separately. A controller can also be assigned to several channels on the remote control by pressing the buttons of the desired groups one after another. This is useful if you want to dim or switch the entire lighting system on and off via one channel and control only a specific part of the lighting via another channel.

Easy unpairing from the controller
Unpairing from the LED SmartHome Controller and the wireless remote control is carried out via the Tuya app used on the smartphone by removing the device from the device overview. The controller can then be paired with the app again and assigned to a new channel on the remote control.
