Our S-Polybond PMMApolitur is a fine-grained polishing paste especially for acrylic glass and Plexiglas surfaces. It is used for polishing, smoothing and refreshing matt and weathered plastic surfaces made of polymethyl methacrylate and effectively removes small surface scratches. The polishing paste can be applied by hand with a soft cloth or with a soft polishing attachment at low speed.

S-Polybond PMMApolitur was specially developed for polishing smooth surfaces made of acrylic and Plexiglas. It is suitable for all smooth acrylic glass sheets, regardless of brand and manufacturer, e.g. acrylic glass XT, acrylic glass GS, Plexiglas®, Setacryl, and many more. It does not matter whether it is cast or extruded acrylic glass. The paste can also be used for polishing coloured, fluorescent or transparent acrylic sheets. S-Polybond is also suitable for opal acrylic glass in frosted glass look or for our blanks made of opaque acrylic glass. PMMApolitur for coated, lacquered or foiled surfaces, however, the polish is only suitable to a limited extent and should be tried out in advance on a test piece or on an inconspicuous spot. The polishing paste should also not be used on matt or satin-finished acrylic glass sheets.

Properties of our S-Polybond PMMApolitur

With our special polish PMMApolitur our own brand S-Polybond, is a ready-to-use mixture for industrial use for reconditioning acrylic glass sheets that have become dull and matt due to weathering or regular cleaning. Especially in the case of plastic glazing of motor homes, caravans or boats that are permanently exposed to the weather, the polishing paste can bring about a significant freshening up. Regular cleaning of the panes causes barely visible surface scratches, which can result in stress cracks due to strong UV radiation. By smoothing the surfaces, the scratches are removed and the plastic panes shine in new splendour.

S-Polybond PMMApolitur is a very fine polishing paste comparable to a 6000 grit sandpaper. Due to the very fine polishing particles in the paste, there is no risk of scratches on the smooth surfaces. On the contrary, the polishing paste removes even small scratches on the plastic surfaces and can soften deeper scratches with repeated use. This makes the polishing paste also very suitable for removing fine scratches from the displays of smartphones, tablets or smartwatches. It should be noted, however, that the display panel is made of acrylic glass and not tempered glass or sapphire glass.

NOTE: For cleaning and polishing acrylic and Plexiglas® should always use a soft, lint-free cloth and not a microfibre cloth.

Use of PMMApolitur polishing agent

Surface preparation

Before polishing, clean the surfaces thoroughly with a cleaning agent suitable for acrylic glass, for example our acrylic and plexiglas cleaner PMMAclean It is important to remove dirt, dust, grease and wax and to rinse the surface abundantly with low-lime water.

Dosing of polishing agent

Apply the polishing paste directly to the surface or to the polishing attachment and spread it over the surface in circular movements. Make sure that the polishing paste does not dry out and, if necessary, moisten it with water, e.g. from a spray bottle. Always apply only a small amount of the paste to the surface. For larger surfaces, proceed in sections, working only on the area that can be worked on at once. Do not apply the polishing paste in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces or surfaces that have been heated up too much by the sun to prevent the paste from drying out. Keep the surface sufficiently moist during the entire polishing process. Residues of the polishing compound PMMApolitur can be picked up with a damp, soft cloth.

NOTE: After polishing, it may be necessary to clean again with an acrylic glass cleaner to achieve a streak-free surface shine of the freshly polished acrylic glass surface.

WARNING: Not suitable for coated or satanized acrylic sheets. Avoid contact with metallic surfaces.

Safety instructions for use

Before using the acrylic and Plexiglas polishing paste S-Polybond PMMApolitur the safety sheet and the technical data sheet should be taken into account. In particular, the information on handling and personal protective equipment during processing, are of special interest here. Even if the safety data sheet does not explicitly state so, chemical mixtures and substances should always be stored in the original container and out of reach of children for safety reasons.
