fischer PowerFast II Ø 6.0mm - countersunk screw with partial thread

With ETA approval ✓ Gapless screw connection ✓ From 1 screw ✓

Our chipboard screws fischer PowerFast II FPF II CTP with 6mm thread diameter are available in various lengths as a partially threaded version. The countersunk head with a diameter of 12mm has a Torx drive in size TX30 (or ISR30), which enables easy processing with high tightening torques. The screws are equipped with special shank milling ribs that noticeably reduce the screw-in resistance and improve the bite behaviour when screwing into wood materials. This also has an effect on the screwing time, which is again significantly reduced by an increased thread pitch.

Compared to screws with partial threads (CTF), the screws made of galvanised steel with full threads (CTP) offer the advantage that the thread-free shank allows gap-free screw connections in which the materials are pulled tightly together. Furthermore, in combination with a fischer anchor, the screws are excellent as anchor screws for the secure installation of add-on parts that are to be firmly mounted to the mounting substrate.

Properties of the fischer PowerFast II countersunk screws with partial thread

The fischer PowerFast II FPF II CTP is an electro galvanised, blue passivated chipboard screw with countersunk head and partial thread. These are ideal for screw connections where the screw head should be flush with the material surface. The partial thread allows the wood materials to be tightened together without any gaps, thus ensuring a strong connection in all woods.

The screw geometry typical of fischer PowerFast II screws, which is noticeable through an increased thread pitch and an innovative core cutter geometry, contribute to fast and easy handling when processing the screws. This is noticeable in the very good bite behaviour with significantly reduced screw-in times. This saves battery capacity, so that significantly more screws can be screwed in with one battery charge. The lower screw-in resistance also makes it less difficult to screw in with a conventional screwdriver.

The electro galvanisation of the screws provides good protection against corrosion, so that the chipboard screws can be used almost without restriction for interior applications. An additional blue passivation increases the corrosion protection even further, so that screw connections are also possible for outdoor applications. However, in areas of application where permanent contact with moisture or prolonged heavy weathering cannot be ruled out, the screws should not be used and screws made of a stainless steel alloy should be used instead.

Approvals of the fischer PowerFast II screws

  • ETA-19/0175 - European Technical Assessment for Screws for Use in Timber Structures
  • DoP 0118 - Declaration of performance for the use of screws in load-bearing timber structures
  • DoP W0009 - Declaration of performance for self-drilling screws for use in wood structures
  • DIN EN 13501 - Non-combustible - Meets the requirements of class A1 (no contribution to fire)

Processing of countersunk screws with partial threads

Partially threaded chipboard screws are mainly used for gap-free screw fastening of wood-based materials or as dowel screws. When used in wood, the screws can usually be screwed in without pre-drilling. Only with hard materials, which also include hardwoods, is it advisable to pre-drill with a small drill bit. For 6mm screws, which have a core of about 4mm, a drill with a nominal diameter of three to four millimetres is ideal. To ensure that the screw head is flush with the surface, a countersink should also be used to countersink the holes in hardwood, metal or plastic.

For the processing of the screws, a bit attachment or screwdriver is required that is suitable for Torx screws in size TX30. This modern drive not only enables higher tightening torques compared to Phillips screws, but also reduces the risk of damage to the screw head. Slipping or spinning of the bit, which is more common with cross-recess screws, is almost impossible with a Torx drive.

Advantages of the chipboard screws PowerFast II FPF II CTP

  • Reduced screwing time thanks to increased thread pitch noticeably saves battery capacity
  • With a fischer plug, the screw is suitable for installation with tested loads
  • Modern hexagon socket drive (TX30, ISR30) for maximum torque without slippage
  • The partial thread of the screw enables gap-free screwing of wood materials
  • The screws are environmentally compatible and free of chromium(VI) components that are hazardous to health

Application examples for fischer countersunk screws with partial thread

Partially threaded screws with countersunk heads are always used when wood materials are to be screwed together without gaps. A very good application example for screws with 6 mm diameter and partial thread is the screwing of the roof battens to the rafters. Due to the thread-free shank, the roof battens can be firmly tightened to the rafters. The same applies to the construction of roofing with wooden beams. The countersunk head can be countersunk flush with the surface of the battens. This allows roof tiles or the plastic sheets for patio roofing to be attached directly to the substructure without a protruding screw head obstructing the assembly.

Countersunk screws with partial thread are excellently suited for fixing components with plugs that are used in pre-insertion assembly. The fischer PowerFast II FPF II CTP with 6mm thread diameter are screws with tested loads in the fischer plug (e.g. Fischer DuoPower or Fischer UX), so that these plugs with a diameter from 8mm to a maximum of 10mm are ideally suited for screwing wall cabinets or shelves to the wall. The length of the screw depends on the selected anchor and the attachment part. The partial thread ensures that the attachment is firmly tightened to the mounting surface without leaving a gap between them. Please note that the thread-free area of the screw must at least correspond to the thickness of the attachment part.

Partially threaded screws are an excellent choice for mounting plastic panels as simple wall cladding, as impact protection, whiteboards or large advertising boards. In addition, the screws are also suitable for screwing plastic parts together. However, with a thread diameter of 6mm and a head diameter of 12mm, the screws are more suitable for thicker panels. Pre-drilling with a 3mm or 4mm drill bit is just as advisable for plastics as creating a countersink with a conical countersink so that the countersunk screws are flush with the plastic surface. In this way, for example, robust machine covers or insulating housings can be created that are simply screwed together.

NOTE: The partially threaded screws should be handled carefully in outdoor applications so as not to damage the corrosion protection, which consists of an electro galvanised coating.
