fischer PowerFast II Ø 4.5mm - Partially Threaded Screws with Countersunk Head

Ideal as a dowel screw ✓ ETA approval included ✓ From 1 screw ✓

Our chipboard screws fischer PowerFast II FPF II CTP with 4.5 mm thread diameter are available as a version with countersunk head and partial thread in various lengths. The modern Torx drive size TX20 (ISR20) ensures easy processing with little effort. The special core cutter geometry also makes it much easier to screw in the screws, regardless of whether they are screwed into wood or used as a plug screw in the fischer plug. The increased thread pitch also contributes to a force-saving screwing process and noticeably reduces the screwing time without negatively affecting the quality of the fixing.

The small partially threaded screws are perfect for achieving gap-free fixings between wood-based materials. As a screw with tested loads in the fischer plug, they are also very well suited for simple fixings in walls and ceilings. Particularly in push-in installation, where the plug is inserted directly into the hole and the screw is screwed through the installation object into the plug, the partial thread helps to ensure that the fixture can be tightened very firmly to the installation substrate.

Properties of the fischer PowerFast II countersunk screws with partial thread

The chipboard screws with a 4.5 mm thread diameter, where only part of the total length is threaded, are marketed by the manufacturer fischer under the name PowerFast II FPF II CTP. This is an electro galvanised, blue passivated steel screw with countersunk head that enables flush surface installation without the screw head protruding.

The special feature of fischer PowerFast II screws is the unique screw geometry, which is made up of an increased thread pitch, special shank milling ribs and a distinctive core cutter. The screws, which are characterised by a very short bite time, are significantly easier to screw in than wood screws from many other manufacturers. This is noticeable and measurable from a combination of reduced screw-in resistance and a significantly shorter screw-in time, because many more screws can be processed before the battery of the cordless screwdriver needs to be recharged.

For improved corrosion protection, the chipboard screws are made of galvanised steel and passivated in blue, so that the screws can be used indoors without hesitation, as well as outdoors under certain conditions. However, the screws should not be used in regular contact with moisture or adverse weather conditions. Screws made of stainless steel should be used here.

Approvals of the fischer PowerFast II screws

  • ETA-19/0175 - European Technical Assessment for Screws for use in Timber Structures
  • DoP 0118 - Declaration of performance for the use of screws in load-bearing timber structures
  • DoP W0009 - Declaration of performance for self-drilling screws for use in wood structures
  • DIN EN 13501 - Non-combustible - Meets the requirements of class A1 (no contribution to fire)

Processing of countersunk screws with partial threads

Chipboard screws are the perfect choice for screwing wood-based materials together or for mounting attachments on wood. In most cases, the small diameter of the screws means that neither pre-drilling nor countersinking of the hole is necessary, because thanks to the core cutter geometry, the screw works its way effortlessly through most woods. Only with hardwood, e.g. walnut or oak, can it be useful to pre-drill the desired fastenings with a small drill bit, the diameter of which should be approx. two to three millimetres. For hardwood or when screwing hard materials to wood, a countersink is also required for countersunk screws if the screw head is to be countersunk flush in the material.

The countersunk screws with partial thread have an internal star drive of size TX20 (ISR20). A screwdriver bit or a screwdriver of the corresponding size is required to process the screws. The main advantage, compared to cross-recess screws, is that the bit has a tight fit in the drive without the risk of the bit slipping or spinning. This means that higher tightening torques are possible without much pressure on the tip of the bit, which makes work much easier.

Advantages of the chipboard screws PowerFast II FPF II CTP

  • The increased thread pitch saves battery capacity through reduced screwing time
  • The partially threaded screws in Ø 4.5mm are ideal for fischer plugs in 6mm diameter
  • Easy screwing in without slipping off thanks to modern hexagon socket drive (TX20, ISR20)
  • The thread-free shank of the partially threaded screws ensures gap-free tightening
  • The screws do not contain any chromium(VI) components of concern and are considered to be environmentally compatible

Application examples for fischer countersunk screws with partial thread

The small partially threaded screws with countersunk heads are extremely popular in furniture making, because the partial thread allows the individual wooden elements to be pulled tightly together without leaving a gap. The screws are particularly suitable for screwing individual kitchen cabinets together, as well as for connecting the cabinets to the kitchen worktop. In addition, the countersunk screws with internal star drive are the perfect choice for flush-surface screw connections of wood panelling, for example when finishing the attic with profiled wood made of spruce, pine or chipboard. The chipboard screws can also be used very well for fastening chipboard or OSB boards as floor panels without the screw head protruding in a disturbing way.

Chipboard screws in the PowerFast II FPF II CTP series from fischer are screws with tested loads in the fischer plug. This makes the countersunk screws perfect for fixings, for example for mounting wall and ceiling lights with our fischer DuoPower or fischer UX universal plugs. The anchor diameter should be 6mm for the 4.5mm screws with partial threads so that the screw can effectively introduce the functional principle of the anchor. For larger anchor diameters, the screw is too small in terms of thread diameter, so that the anchor cannot spread (or knot or flap) sufficiently.

Countersunk screws with partial thread are excellent for making small enclosures or for fastening partition walls with our plastic panels. However, the plastics should be pre-drilled in advance with a 2 - 3mm drill bit. It is advisable to widen the hole to 9mm with a countersink so that the countersunk head can be flush with the plastic surface. In addition, the screws with a diameter of 4.5mm are excellent for mounting information boards and wall signs with our solid stainless steel spacers and cover caps .

NOTE: The galvanised steel screws should be handled with care, especially when used outdoors, so as not to damage the galvanisation, which protects against corrosion.
